testing:
L'Oreal Sublime Glow for fair skin tones. I had read a lot about how self tanners smell, but this wasn't too bad. I smelled faintly of beef jerky, which yes, ew, but I was expecting worse. After two days I have some color that doesn't look fake on my very pale skin.
playing:
Knytt, which is completely addicting. Also, I seem to be stuck somewhere underground.
reading:
The latest
Blueprint magazine
wishing:
for a really good
camera, sigh
buying:
3x3 magnetic strips for the kitchen.

drooling over:
The Great Book of Chocolate by the very charming
David Lebovitz
putting down in the planting beds:

free used coffee grounds from Starbucks, both are attempts to discourage the neighborhood cats from coming around

eating:
Dancing Deer Backing Company
Molasses Clove Cookies
Ok, so it's not quite a summery flavor, but the store didn't have any strawberry pies.

drinking:
Jasmine
In this drink "the juice of 1/2 a lemon" equals about 3/4 ounce, also this isn't a drink to substitute any old orange liquor for the Cointreau. (Image from Webmonkey
via The Wayback Machine.)
wanting:
vacation time
Despite myself I'm thinking about tropical beaches.
eating:
Rescue Remedy Pastilles
I'll let you know if they work.
reading:
Cell by Stephen King
Works right into that zombie thing I seem to be so determined to freak myself out over.
trying:
to decide on a flowering vine
Even though it's a little too late to grow one this year. Shown here is the Canary Bird Vine, I like it's leaves.

watching:
The Princess Bride
This one just doesn't get old for me.
reading:
Bamboo for Gardens
From the back sleeve: "Ted Jordan Meredith first discovered bamboo while looking for a rapidly growing evergreen screen to block out the housing construction next to his home." This is exactly the bamboo book I was looking for, the author even lives in Washington state. While a lot of the book is filled with descriptions of various bamboos there is all the information one needs to plant, grow and care for bamboo.
visiting:
Leavenworth, WA
This town is Bavarian themed, so much so that McDonald's, the Chinese restaurant and the car wash all use Bavarian fonts. It's spooky and delightful at the same time. From Wikipedia: "Leavenworth's Oktoberfest celebration is one of the most attended outside Munich, Germany."
eating:
Kinder
Happy Hippos
Bought in Leavenworth, a place of happy food shops and many, many tourist traps.
trying:
self tanner
Inspired by
this episode of Lip Gloss and Laptops (#62), I need to banish some nearly blue-white skin in preparation to wear a new dress to an outdoor wedding.

reading:
Educating Peter
Letie Teague, wine editor for Food & Wine magazine, decides to teach Peter Travers, Rolling Stone's film critic and her neighbor, about wine. The book is a story but it's filled with information.
loving:
This American Life
What I Learned from Television poster
Sadly, I missed the tour.
finding useful:
Three by Three
magnetic hooks
Currently helping keep pot holders near my stove.
playing:
Professor Fizzwizzle and the Molten Mystery
There is a free demo version. I like the
first Professor Fizzwizzle game a lot.
watching:
Gilmore Girls
I have a knack for putting off watching shows until they have actually ended.

[
note: I usually keep a list of what I've been up to in the side bar, over there to the right, however enough people leave comments about what's there that I've decided to move them to the main posts. I have archived past weeks since I rather like having the record of things.]
loving:
Online Communities Poster from xkcd
This will hang on the wall of the room we call the office, but can more accurately be described as the Internet Room.
eating:
Sausage and Broccoli Rabe Calzones
Recipe from
Baking Illustrated, and I'm attempting to figure out the best way to cook them after freezing. Yes, the same calzones that were the scene of me
burning the bejeezus out of my thumb.
finding useful:
blue paint tape corners
Painting the trim around many small windows? Me too. This saved me a lot of fussiness.
reading:
