The Jezebel Staff, Perfected. A demonstration of photo editing software that makes people look extra pretty. Its a send up of our overly perfected Instagram age but it kinda sold me on getting one of these apps.

Replacing an inkjet printer with a laser printer | Ask MetaFilter. I recently noticed that my current inkjet printer is nearly a decade old, which means that despite zero signs of something going wrong it’s going to brick itself due to the extra attention. So, laser is what I’m looking at next as well.

This is an unusually good compilation of interesting links (okay, they’re interesting to me, anyway) – thank you!

Also, black and white laser printing is fantastic and I love it – the print quality is so *clean* and never having to worry about dried-up ink is very nice. The speed is convenient, too. We don’t usually need color at all, so we have things printed cheap at office supply stores [documents] or drugstores [proper photos] when we need to – but that’s been about 1x/year total. You do have to be careful to buy the laser-printer-labels rather than the inkjet-printer-labels, and only print on areas of the sheet where labels have not been peeled off, but these have not turned out to be problematic restrictions for me. It also seems to accept a wider range of paper surfaces than inkjet – no wicking or blobbing – although obviously the paper does have to be able to cope with the heat. Anyway: I am a fan of laser.

Thanks KC – I rarely find myself needing to print in color so I think a B&W one will work out great.

Naomi – oh sure, some of them add crazy makeup or make them look like slaves to cosmetic surgery, but a little soft focus never hurt.
