Thermoworks Thermapen and Oven Thermometer – Cooking For Engineers. This links to a giveaway, and I wanted to note that this is their favorite.

Links from the Food Universe, delicious:days. I’m looking right at her recommendation for the GIR Spatula here. I love spatulas that don’t need to be taken apart to be cleaned, and this one comes in so many great colors.
Not too serious, not too silly board games | Ask MetaFilter. I like the cooperative games like Pandemic, it’s the players against the game itself.

That Thermapen giveaway is from so long ago last year. I need a new timer/thermometer thing, though, so I appreciate the pointer.

I got a pair of the Echo Touch Gloves at MoMA during their holiday members sale and I love them. They really work well and are a nice cut – a little more stylish than knit gloves. And now they are on sale on the MoMA site, and even cheaper than what I got them for!

We have searched and searched for better spatulas for dealing w/ hot caramel at Helliemae’s, and every single one has disappointed. I’m excited to learn about this GIR spatula. We’re going to order a few and try them out – thanks!

Include Munchkin for sure on the list of fun board games – also Castle Panic (cooperative). I’m just getting into Ticket to Ride too. And while you at it go check out Geek & Sundry’s youtube channel and search the “Tabletop” section – lots of great videos of charming notable geeks (Wil Wheaton, Felicia Day) playing & explaining board games. LOVE.

Melissa – Oops, I phrased that awkwardly. I meant to say “sorry this links to an old giveaway but I wanted to make a note that this is their favorite”.

Alex – Thanks for the recommendation! I got a pair of good stretchy ones from Nordstrom this year after trying out every other touch brand I could find. I’ll take a look at the Moma ones too.

Brianne – I am! We own a copy of Forbidden Island, which is a little faster to play. I’d love to join you sometime!

Ellen – I have lots of silicone spatulas myself and none are quite right. I’m excited to try one of these, we’ll compare notes!

MamaMaurina – Thanks for the suggestions, I know about the Geek&Sundry youtube channel but haven’t watched it yet (something always pulls me away from the computer). I’ll make more effort!

We are getting rid of our copy of Forbidden Island, but Pandemic remains a favorite. I don’t mind that we hardly ever seem to win, because cooperative games are just 100x better than other games (except puzzle games).
