You gotta give Vernors another try, it’s one of my favorites and it always works for an upset stomach. :-)

No lie: I am drinking a Vernor’s as we (virtually) speak, and I was wondering about its origins not 20 minutes ago. It has a good flavor, so I was disappointed to see that it has HFCS.

And I can confirm what Rebecca says–I bought it because I had an upset stomach.

Try a Vernor’s float or Vernor’s milkshake. TO DIE FOR!!!!!

I loved Vernor’s as a kid, for the strong ginger bite curbed by the slight vanilla flavor. But when I tried it again this year, I found it too sweet, with very little bite to it. Not sure if it’s because of the rumored reformulation, or if I’ve just grown less tolerant of sweets.

Vernor’s is my favorite ginger ale – try it in a Dark & Stormy! Also, my friend, who is from Michigan, drinks it warm in cold weather – he says it’s great.

Vernor’s for a sick stomach – absolutely; Vernor’s float with vanilla ice cream is called a Boston Cooler – very yummy; Vernor’s as a basting liquid for a baked ham – superb.

Do give it another try, it’s my absolute favorite pop but much harder to find here in Colorado than back home in Michigan.

    Hey, Vernor’s rocks! (Detroit represent!)
Haha, I too was drinking a Vernors when this popped up on my screen! Wacky…

Sandy, my family does everything you mentioned (upset stomach, Boston Cooler, ham…); also, sounds bad but microwave it when you have a sore throat.

The article is right, it doesn’t taste the same as it used to. In fact my mom and I were just talking about that the other day. And it is an acquired taste if you’re used to Canada Dry etc.

Vernors is harder to find in places far-flung from the Midwest (a 6-pack was pretty $$ when we lived in TX), but my best Vernors story was finding it in glass bottles at an old-timey candy shop in Hilo, Hawaii!!

I’m in CA and Vernors is really easy to find! I grew up on Vernors and Hansens. They were the only sodas allowed in the house. Needless to say I loved them as a kid. Haven’t drank either in a long time though.

Hi, I was searching for people who love gingerbread things as much as I do and I found your lovely blog. Your blog is much bigger than mine but I would love it if you would submit one of your gingerbread ideas to my Gingerbread Linky Party which ends Dec. 12th. My readers would be delighted to see your blog. Hope you can come.

    Shannon
