giveaway: Yolo Colorhouse Design Kits

Yolo Colorhouse wants you to know that their paint is now available in Lowe’s stores on the West Coast, and to help spread the word they are offering one lucky reader some useful things, more on that below. To celebrate the introduction the paint is being offered at a special price, yipee. Go see more about this, and find out which select stores the paint will be available in.

Yolo Colorhouse makes gorgeous zero-VOC paint which means it’s good for you, your home and the environment. They are both Green Seal certified and has a whole bunch of LEED rating points. I first learned about Yolo Colorhouse when we bought our first home and painted every wall, ceiling and door with zero-VOC paint (I would have painted the floors too, but half are already pretty nice and the other half are carpet). Yolo Colorhouse has amazing colors, each one is richly pigmented and seems to spring from nature. I wasn’t surprised to find that the women who founded the company actually started with color, custom mixing it on the spot for clients, and was followed by researching and creating paint that would be healthier for themselves and the dwellings they put it in. They call themselves color nerds! Their designer sensibilities also show in how they present the paint, they sell poster-sized samples of the actual paint which you can hang on the wall of you choice to see how it acts in the light in that space and there is no need to paint a swatch on your wall (something I find perilous and more work than it seems). Or, if you’re getting ready to make some paint choices for your home, you can order a Design Kit which are books of 8×8 samples of all the colors they offer. Which brings us back to the giveaway!

Yolo Colorhouse would like to give a reader both of their Design Kits, each is worth $80. One set contains The Earth’s Color collection and the second contains both The Color of Hope collection as well as the Sprout collection which is a range of lovely pastels suitable for childrens rooms. Each sample card lists three companion colors on the back as well as a note on the color. My favorite, Petal .02, says “Hot lime – full of energy. Try it with black and white – makes for a lively contemporary kitchen or for an accent in a kid’s play room.” Petal .01 reports “Make no mistake, Petal .01 is loud and vibrant. An orange designed to be used sparingly, unless you want to live loud.” Each kit is bound using a metal ring that is easy to unclasp so you can hold up individual samples as needed. In addition to the design kits you’ll get an organic cotton tote bag and a BPA-free water bottle. Excellent, right?

Are you a designer? Or just fixing up your house and anticipating needing some time to obsess over colors? These are meant for you. If you think these Design Kits would come in handy you can enter this giveaway simply by leaving a comment with this post. If you’d like something to chat about (I love reading all the responses) please answer this question: Which color would you paint your ideal kitchen? I think I’d go with a sunny yellow to keep my spirits up during our overcast winter days. You’ve got until Tuesday, June 14th to enter, the fine print applies and the winner will be chosen by the Random Number Generator. Just so you know: This a sponsored giveaway, from a company I like.

Alright, good luck! Done! I’ll be announcing the winning number once I’ve heard back. Thanks so much for entering everybody!

    Oooooo…. I love Yolo.
I’m with you in the yellow except that our hideously ugly (rental) kitchen has brown old-style Lino floor ugliness so I’m not clear that yellow would improve the situation. So a beautiful sage might be right. Or pumpkin. I loooove pumpkin walls.

  • 2 Sydney // Jun 7, 2011 at 2:31 am

I think I would be boring and have the walls be white but have buffed marble subway tiles and nice green painted cabinets.. But as I’m in a rental, I think I would go with either a really light yellow or maybe a griege… :)

  • 3 Michelle // Jun 7, 2011 at 2:47 am

Awesome giveaway! In my dream kitchen, I think I’d go for a light, fresh barely-there blue like the Yolo Water .01…

  • 4 Alexis // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:24 am

Husband and I are planning to do a complete remodel on our kitchen (someday) since it’s all ugly and tiny. I’m in love with my tangerine kitchen aid standmixer so we were thinking of doing a creamsicle kitchen. Orange walls/backsplash with white cabinets and tiles. Makes me smile just thinking about it. =D

  • 5 Jamie G // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:44 am

I would love to have a white kitchen with one wall painted a deep, more-blue-than-green torquoise. I have some vintage orangey-red dishes that I think would look great as contrast against that color with white shelving. Oh, to dream!

  • 6 Julie // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:48 am

I just painted our kitchen butter yellow – so nice. Then our air conditioner had a disastrous leak and ruined the paint and ceiling and soffit in there (plus 2 other rooms)… So needless to say this giveaway would be amazing to win! Would end a lot of arguments with my husband re: color :-)

  • 7 Katie // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:17 am

This giveaway was made for me! I’m obsessed with colors! And my kitchen is already my ideal color – a luscious deep teal, black accents. Still, could use a third color perhaps?

  • 8 Ruth Ann // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:45 am

Ooo…I need to do some painting at my house but I’ve been having trouble figuring out how to make it work in the common areas, since I have a very open floor plan but I also don’t want to keep everything the same color. This sounds like it would be an amazing resource to help me figure out what goes with what (I’m also an engineer, so I have no idea what really looks good with what…occupational hazard. :) )

As for my kitchen, I don’t know if it would work at my house, but I’ve always liked the idea of sunny yellow kitchens.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  • 9 Martha // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:46 am

beautiful colors! I’m interested in the idea of no-VOC paint.

  • 10 Barb // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:52 am

Changing the color of a wall is such an easy, inexpensive way to revitalize a space. In my kitchen I would go for the earth colors – water or leaf tones, with clay or stone.

  • 11 Betsy // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:53 am

I love color! My kitchen is already my dream color – yellow, but with 4 messy boys it could use a fresh coat!

  • 12 Allison // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:54 am

I need to redecorate my kitchen and this would provide the perfect inspiration. Thanks for the chance to win!!

  • 13 Dusie // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:54 am

I suppose it depends on the kitchen! I love kitchens. Right now mine is tan (bleh), but I think it’d be nice in a light green or blue.

  • 14 Susan // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:58 am

Yellow kitchens are great. Mine is a mustardy yellow which sort of glows with the afternoon light.

  • 15 Heather // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:58 am

We are building a LEED certified house and are just weeks away from selecting paint colors. Zero VOC paint is very attractive! I have been considering a bright kiwi or lime green accent wall in the kitchen.

  • 16 Kate // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:01 am

After two failures in paint color, I finally settled on the best color for our kitchen: bright red. I tried off-white (boring) and butter yellow (didn’t go well with the oak cabinets) and the red is by far the best, particularly with the white subway tile backsplash. Still gives me energy in those dark winter months.

  • 17 heidi // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:14 am

How funny. I am right now trying to decide on a color for our new kitchen. (We just moved!) Since I spend most of my time at home in the kitchen (4 boys!) We are doing that room first. I was going to go with a turquoise but now am leaning to a glossy pure white. Gah! Too many choices.

  • 18 logan // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:15 am

I think I’d have to go wtih a soft yellow too, either that or maybe green, like Thrive#3.

I’d love to paint our entire house!

  • 19 Erin // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:20 am

Ohhh, I love color! I would paint my dream kitchen a robin’s egg blue. So cheerful and pretty!

  • 20 Dawn-Rene // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:23 am

Yolo is now available in Lowes? Sign me up ~~ I love this paint. Fabulous colors and not dangerous to your health. What is not to like…….

  • 21 kirida // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:26 am

I would love to paint my kitchen a light blue, something like robin’s egg. But my husband prefers something like gold, so until I can reprogram his color sense, we’re not changing anything.

  • 22 Beth // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:31 am

I love my yellow kitchen! I would paint my cabinets white to go with!
Would love to have the color kits!

  • 23 sangeetha // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:31 am

My ideal kitchen would be a pale green / grey

  • 24 Kim // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:32 am

I always was partial to a yellow kitchen, but I’ve lived with one now for several years and I think I actually prefer orange. Nothing too Halloweeny, with more red than yellow. Plus, orange apparently stimulates appetite, and with the quality of my cooking that could be a benefit!

  • 25 Lorri // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:34 am

That color kit would be great. I like a blue and white kitchen. Great question. It’s interesting to read what everyone else likes.

  • 26 Ella // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:38 am

We’re moving to an apartment with built in cabinetry in the kitchen, and I would love to paint the interior of the cabinet a bold contrast color.

  • 27 MK // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:39 am

Love Yolo paints. Love to buy mistints at Ecohaus for cheap. Kitchen color tbd; Yolo color kit would help!

  • 28 Kiri // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:41 am

Since I’m stuck with the joys of rental apartments for the next forever painting the kitchen isn’t likely to happen.

Dream kitchen though is painted dove grey, with dark grey counters, white doors and slate tiles. That way I can have fun with pops of neon pink and blue on handles, utensils etc.

  • 29 Lynn N // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:42 am

Oh- we need to repaint our whole house and this would be a great inspiration! Otherwise, I’ll probably paint everything beige!

  • 30 Amy // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:43 am

We are moving soon and will most likely need to repaint new living space. Also, this would be a great resource to share with others doing the same. Thanks for the unique giveaway.

  • 31 Lindsay // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:45 am

i’m having to address this question right now, as my partner and i just bought a beautiful craftsman from the 1920s with an unbeautiful ‘vintage’ (probably mostly ’70s) kitchen. since i love roasted red peppers and tomatoes, i’d go with a deep burnt orange-red.

  • 32 Kate in the Shade // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:55 am

    These colors are gorgeous.
We moved into our new house a few months ago and picked a cactus-y green for our walls (which I still love, thankfully). However, some of our other color choices–picked in a hurry–haven’t been so perfect. I was thinking of repainting a couple of rooms this summer and these design kits sound fabulously helpful!

  • 33 Lulu Lane Designs // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:00 am

I would definately love these! I always feel like I need help putting together color combinations. Thanks so much!

  • 34 Sheila // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:01 am

I just painted my kitchen. It used to be brick red, and now its a really nice fresh green. So, I’d paint my dream kitchen green.

These color samples look amazing. My MIL and I play with samples constantly. I might have to pick these up…if I don’t win them first!

  • 35 Robin Melody // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:03 am

I would paint my kitchen a gorgeous buttery yellow. But not like butter yellow, more of an earthy clay like yellow!

  • 36 Suzanne // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:04 am

I’m a little sad that these are only available on the West coast Lowes. I’d really love to get my hands on some to paint a couple of rooms currently undergoing re-design.

As for my dream kitchen, I’m almost there! I went with a very cool gray and white cabinets. Just working on the backsplash now.

  • 37 Jody // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:14 am

What color would I paint the kitchen? That’s the problem! With two colors of tile, a strange floor, very low light, etc., I haven’t been able to figure it out. This giveaway could provide the perfect solution!

  • 38 Jessie // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:16 am

I love, love yellow paint in a breakfast area.

  • 39 Nancy // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:17 am

Is it boring that my kitchen is white with black trim and I like it that way? But now, my living room, which abuts it–I’m dying to paint that in a fern green.

  • 40 Janna // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:17 am

I’m so excited to be able to get Yolo at Lowe’s! I’ve only painted one room so far in GRAIN. 07, a beautiful mustard color, and I have great plans to paint every room in a different color, and then get going on the outdoor spaces of my house!

  • 41 Katrina // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:19 am

Painting the kitchen has been a subject of debate in our house. I have always wanted a red and white kitchen. My husband thinks his grandmother’s kitchen was the most welcoming place on earth, so we should paint it yellow like hers. He also think we should use cobalt blue accents. I’m trying to find ways to incorporate the primary colors without it looking like a preschool classroom. When it comes to actually painting, it’ll probably be a pale, warm yellow.

  • 42 Daphna // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:19 am

I’d paint my ideal kitchen a creamy yellow, too, with white cabinets and lots of colorful ceramics on the counter. But my current (wonderful) kitchen has cherry cabinets, so I’m hoping to paint it light blue–and samples from Yolo would help! Crossing my fingers I win some color samples to play with.

  • 43 Annie // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:20 am

My ideal kitchen is warm, comfortable, full of people and smells delicious. What colour IS that?? I just don’t know… I think it might be soft cream beadboard and a matte grey green. Yolo, help!

  • 44 Melissa // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:23 am

We’re moving into a new house, and while it is freshly painted, the kids’ rooms will need their own color. Girl child wants purple! Boy child hasn’t decided. As for my kitchen, what color would I paint it? Huh. Dunno. I have ideas on other rooms, not the kitchen.

  • 45 christy // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:29 am

I bought a mug at ikea, white with blue and light celery yellow wavy stripes on it. It is in my kitchen as inspiration for my one-day-future kitchen colors.

  • 46 Hayley // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:31 am

Wow, this would be wonderful timing, as my husband and I just bought our first home last week! I’ve always known I wanted to use environmentally friendly paint, but I don’t know much about it. Right now the entire house is white (inside and out), so it’s begging for a little cheery color!

  • 47 Michelle // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:31 am

I love bright wonderful colors in my house. We are moving here in a couple of weeks to a new house and you know the first thing I like to do is get a fresh coat on the walls if possible. I would love to go with a yellow in the kitchen. It is fun and lively – like a kitchen should be!

  • 48 Thaís Nascimento // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:32 am

I’d paint it a soft shade of yellow *-*

  • 49 Karen // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:33 am

I’ve been thinking about the kitchen question a lot actually because we’re hoping to refinish ours as soon as budget allows. We’ll probably go for chocolate brown on the cabinets, so we need something bright, like a buttery yellow or a warm yellow green.

  • 50 Beth K. // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:33 am

These colors are amazing! I’ve always loved red in the kitchen, but there are so many choices it would be hard to commit!!!

  • 51 Hilda // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:34 am

My ideal kitchen is actually not one specific color but filled with tiles of various colors applied asymetrically on top of much larger white tiles on the wall. It’s something I saw in someone’s house years ago and it was extremely soothing. I don’t know if I’ll end up doing that one day, but in the meantime my daughter is 2 and I’m constantly rearranging her room and changing the wall decor, so this should come in handy.

  • 52 Chelsea // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:36 am

Beautiful colors! We are in the midst of trying to decide colors for several rooms in our house. I love the gray-green and gray-blue tones they have going on… perfect for our sunroom and bedroom!

  • 53 ememby // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:37 am

This would be the perfect inspiration to make some changes at our house!

  • 54 Kelly // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:37 am

About to make a cross country move to the west coast and ready to get my paint on! Dream kitchen would probably be a gorgeous gray (my go to color) with primarily white accents. Thanks for holding this great giveaway!

  • 55 hannah // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:38 am

we’re buying a house soon and zero VOC is exactly what i’m looking for!! would love to have this kit…. it might help me decide on a color for the kitchen!

  • 56 Meesh // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:38 am

Yaya, Yolo! If I were to repaint my kitchen anytime soon, I’d go for a pale blue (Water -02). I’m into the calming, restful colors right now, even in the kitchen…

  • 57 Marcia // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:39 am

just in time to paint this summer!

  • 58 Anne // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:45 am

Oh my! I have so many painting needs and so little time. This would be perfect!!! My kitchen is bright yellow and white right now, but I find myself drawn to shades of a sage or asparagus greens right now. Hmmm, that color pallette might change my mind!

  • 59 Cynthia // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:45 am

My dream kitchen is a soft yellow with white cabinetry (but need to research the practicality of white cabinets first)…possibly with glass fronts. Oh, to own my own place and be able to do that!

  • 60 ahlem // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:46 am

I think that the perfect color for a family kitchen is the vanilla because he give the kitchen warmth and tenderness

  • 61 Stephanie // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:47 am

The kitchen color conundrum! I’m always at a loss when I think about my kitchen. Right now we have groovy olive green wallpaper from the 70s, which I neither hate nor love. I think I could get into a green kitchen, or maybe a white kitchen with lots of green accents. Or maybe a purple kitchen. I don’t know!

  • 62 Emily M // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:53 am

Definitely want to win these colors!! I painted my kitchen a fairly boring beige but that was mostly due to the existing cabinets and flooring. If I had my ideal kitchen, I think a nice robin’s egg blue would be divine.

  • 63 Lisa // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:54 am

Right now my kichen is sort of a sage green that I love. If I were to try something new I think I would go to a celery. I have a hard time choosing paint since the only color I can ever elminate off the top is pink… I love everything else.

  • 64 Dawn Greenberg // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:58 am

Kitchen , very faint blue with grey details. Great giveaway!

  • 65 Linda // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:03 am

I’m ready to change kitchen colors…the last time I changed color…i copied Martha Stewart’s colors from her TV show set…but there are so many Yolo colors…I think I could now make my own statement!!! Thanks for this opportunity.

  • 66 Annette // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:05 am

not sure what color….that is the question right now. I’m thinking orange, or pale aqua, or perhaps a light appley green.

  • 67 Heidi Devereaux // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:05 am

I think I would just like to leave those cards out on the counter so people could flip through them and be happy!

  • 68 Stefanie // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:07 am

I really want to repaint the master bedroom and guest room in our lake house- these would be perfect to help me come up with a new, coordinated color scheme!

  • 69 jennie lynn // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:08 am

I think I would go with a nice dove grey…or a good mustardy yellow.

  • 70 hunter // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:08 am

Oh pretty please? I’m sorting out colors for a project right now and this would ROCK.

And my kitchen is headed to a yellow and gray thing…subdued but cheerful.

  • 71 Sara // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:09 am

Ooh, I’d love to win this. I like my kitchen to be warm and bright. Mine is currently an orangey terra cotta. It’s bold but looks nice.

  • 72 Jarrah // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:11 am

I’d be going for orange and white – someone else termed it a creamsicle kitchen and I love that!

  • 73 Annie // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:12 am

I am in the middle of a kitchen remodel and am grappling with this question! I think I’ve settled on a teal/jadey blue green. Such a bright happy color! I’m working hard to change it from the brown/black kitchen nightmare it was when we moved in.

  • 74 M // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:13 am

I don’t normally dream in paint colors, so this would be useful. A light green kitchen would be nice, though…

  • 75 sarah // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:18 am

bright green with lots of white accents…

  • 76 kendra // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:22 am

I’d love a robin’s egg blue, not too deep or bight, with lots of red accents. Why have I not done this?

  • 77 Tamiko // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:22 am

We’ve been thinking about persimmon orange for our kitchen. Would love these!

  • 78 Elizabeth // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:26 am

I would love to paint my kitchen that Hot Lime you mentioned…I like yellow, but the lime, screams alive! My sister is a mural artist and cake baker and and and … these design kits will be a great resource for her/us! Thanks for all you do!

  • 79 Lara // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:28 am

Super! I am in the very start-up of a color consulting business – these would be perfect. I love my medium french grey kitchen now, but have literally had dreams about a warm, sunny, orangy yellow kitchen!

  • 80 Eliany // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:31 am

We recently painted our kitchen… deep blue walls and yellow kitchen cabinets! Sounds crazy but we love how it looks.

We’re trying to pick colors for our first baby’s room (coming next October)… so I need to see those Yolo colors!

  • 81 kayduh // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:32 am

I just finished renovating my kitchen and it is a quiet blue. It ties in with my beautiful glass tile backsplash, but allows the tile to be the star of the show!

  • 82 Jaime // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:33 am

I agree with a bright yellow as the main color with patterned curtains to bring in even more color.

  • 83 molly // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:41 am

I have so many painting projects on my list right now. This would be great!

  • 84 Gina W // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:42 am

Color for my ideal kitchen? A yellow like the “Ivory” color of my Fiesta. Actually, my Fiesta is a mix of ivory, lemongrass, red and turquoise. The pale yellow will allow the other colors to pop more.

I’m about to embark on a big re-paint of interior – living room, dining room and den. The Yolo colors look awesome and I may need to check these out before buying the Valspar colors I thought I’d go with :)

  • 85 Tamryn // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:44 am

I love yellow. It’s my go-to color for nearly every room! Which is why I’m struggling to pick the right green and orange for the accent walls in my living room and dining room respectively. Not too bright, not too dark, yet not too pale…

  • 86 Jennifer // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:46 am

A kitchen remodel is next on our list, and I’m thinking of a light warmish grey, white cabinets, and lots of bright accents.

  • 87 mrscharlemagne // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:47 am

Our kitchen is asparagus – a green that I coveted for a year before being able to paint. I am so happy that good, healthy paint is being sold at Lowe’s. Hooray!

  • 88 Heather // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:47 am

I have aqua and yellow tiles in my 1938 kitchen and I’m still hunting for that perfect neutral to compliment them.

  • 89 Dana // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:48 am

I love this paint!!! I paint photo backdrops and would love to use them all… So vibrant!!! The cabinets and counters in my kitchen dictate a soft yellow, grey or green. Going to go pick up a sample this paint today to play with it!!!

  • 90 Kasey // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:50 am

I love those colors – and I got some great ideas from reading the comments – asparagus sounds like an awesome kitchen color, now that I think about it!

  • 91 Jackie P // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:54 am

Beautiful! I’m currently trying to settle on a green for my kitchen.

  • 92 Kaitlyn M. // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:56 am

I agree about the yellow!! I’ve had yellow on the brain lately, so I think I’d have to chose a nice warm shade for my kitchen. :)

  • 93 Melanie // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:57 am

With a foyer and hall covered in swatches for nearly a year, it’s time this girl made up her color mind. I have a dining room and living room I love. Now here’s to inbetween spaces to match.

    Create or thrive!

  • 94 halle // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:57 am

I am in need of some color inspiration! Several rooms in my house need to be brightened up with some new colors. The Color of Hope and Sprout would really help me out!

  • 95 Anna S. // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:58 am

I would paint my kitchen a sunny yellow also! I would love to have it that color to compliment my red kitchen aid:)

  • 96 Jere // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:00 am

I’d use air 2 a bright soft white with black appliances then I could use any colors I wanted in accents and change them up when I wanted. I love colors too much to be stuck with anyone color for long!

  • 97 Dolores T. // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:04 am

I’d love to go with one of the Yolo’s Water shades…

  • 98 Carol // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:05 am

Somewhere between a sage and an olive green. Love it.

  • 101 Bri // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:11 am

I’m still trying to figure out what color to paint my kitchen. When we gutted and remodeled it a year and a half ago, I chickened out and just painted the walls the same color as the rest of our main living space. I’d love to have more color in there (and a tile backsplash, but that’s another story)!

  • 102 Tara // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:13 am

Oh I would love this prize! We are about to move into a new house and I am going nuts trying to figure out my paint colors. In the kitchen I am leaning towards a light gray.

  • 103 jessicac // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:13 am

My ideal kitchen would be a bright yellow or green.. or both? Oh and a moroccan tile backsplash, and an island, and a hidden wine door staircase, and a pot rack, and a magnetic knife strip, and a butcher block counter!

  • 104 Ginger // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:13 am

The colour palette looks perfect for my 50’s inspired living room! Gorgeous.

  • 105 Shannon // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:13 am

My perfect kitchen would either be a warm yellow or a spring green. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • 106 heather // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:14 am

awesome! i LOVE my kitchen walls now – after 3 trials. who knew “aveda green” (the color in my head) was so hard to get to? haha i would probably opt for a sunny light yellow next time around. with clean white cabinets. so clean & bright – looking & feeling :o)

  • 107 Lauren Kay // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:16 am

I loooooove these colors. I have been using Martha Stewart’s colors lately, but have been frustrated by their lack of vibrancy and range of shade. I have a brand new bungalow that needs some life!

  • 108 sadie // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:18 am

I need to paint my whole house. These would be incredibly helpful.

  • 109 MonaR // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:19 am

Love color in the kitchen. Soft yellowish green on the walls and green cabinets. Tomato worm green–a little bit toned down apple-lime kind of green, but all green is good (for me). It’s my neutral :)

  • 110 Chandra // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:21 am

    White, white and more white!

  • 111 Ketra // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:21 am

My ideal kitchen would be a soft pale yellow with bright white trim.

  • 112 Christine // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:24 am

You are absolutely right about painting sample swatches – I’ve managed to get paint on myself or the wood floors too many times doing this deceptively simple task. I don’t think there is an ideal kitchen color – I would love to swap out colors on a whim.

  • 113 Sarah // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:26 am

Good question…my next big painting project for my house is the kitchen! I am thinking about yellow for its cheery and sunny vibe too. And white for the trim and cabinets. I want to do one of the walls in chalkboard paint instead of the yellow, which I think would be really fun. :)

    Awesome giveaway!

  • 117 P. // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:29 am

Soft yellow would be really sweet, but currently I am really digging a bit of a retro vibe with something in the muted greens, not quite avocado…having this kit would be amazing. I always, always gravitate toward the paint swatches anytime I set foot into Home Depot.

My husband and I just got married in April and have purchased a Cliff May in Long Beach that needs a lot of love! So glad we can now find this paint at Lowe’s! Since there’s not a whole lot of actual wall space, I would use something that really pops, like Dream, to add some vibrancy.

  • 121 Kris Meland // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:35 am

We are currently in the planning stage of gutting and redoing our kitchen and have decided that it will be a peaceful, serene ocean blue. Right now it’s an austere white that jangles my nerves.

  • 126 Susan // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:46 am

I agree, I’ve always wanted a yellow kitchen… a deep buttercream color, with red and blue accents. Yep, I’ve thought a bit about this. :) Sounds like a great company and a terrific product!

  • 130 Kate S. // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:54 am

I’ve always been a color person, so for years my kitchens have been various shades of green. But right now, we’re waiting to do a remodel on our current kitchen and I painted over the highlighter yellow walls with some leftover off-white paint. The shockingly bright yellow shows through just a bit and has given the room a honeydew glow–I love it! Just goes to show you that you might really love a color you ‘never thought you’d pick.’

  • 131 Lynnette // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:55 am

Just Painted a crispy white so I could show off all my beautiful blue Le Crueset!

  • 132 Angie // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:55 am

Yolo is intriging, I can spend hours looking at color swatches, it drives my husband crazy, I have so much fun with that!
I paint my kitchen every 5-6 years, when I bought it, it was a warm butter cup yellow, then I went cool with periwinkle blue, now it’s boring beige. I have no idea what that year was about but it’s changing this summer for sure. I think this time around it will have to be a green pallet that will not clash with the pumpkin yellow dining room. Can’t wait!

  • 133 Kelly // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:02 am

I’d like a pretty yellow kitchen too, wit white accents – so cheery!

  • 134 Natalie // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:06 am

My man is a painter, and re-paints/changes the colors in our home ALL the time. Our main space has three very bright colors, a bright blue kitchen, a green/yellow living/dining room, and a dark eggplant accent wall. All of these areas are open to one another, and oddly, they look quite lovely togther.

  • 135 Katie // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:06 am

  • 141 toni // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:19 am

I’m thinking pink. Years ago at an auction I found an old dining room set, the table is chrome with a grayish top, and the chairs are pink vinyl! it was love at first site. I live in a house full of boys (husband, and sons) so while the rest of the house is manly, at least I’d have my pink girly kitchen.

I think the Yolo Thrive.04 vintage green would be lovely in a kitchen!!

  • 149 Emma // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:28 am

Wow, these sound great–I’ll have to search around to see if Yolo is available anywhere near me, because I just promised I’d help my parents paint a couple rooms in their house, and I’d love to bust them out of their eggshell rut.

I rent, but I am lucky to have amazing landlords who let me paint my apartment whatever colors I want, so my kitchen already is my ideal color: a bright blue, just a little bit darker than robins’ egg.

  • 150 Adj (Tattoos & Champagne) // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:30 am

Oh man – I think a soft gold & white combo would do. Otherwise I might go for a robin egg blue.

My other half and I are in the process of looking at houses, so now my dream kitchen takes up all but a nanosecond of my daydreams…

  • 151 ~Karen St. // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:31 am

  • 161 sharon // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:45 am

Yes, please! We’re deep in the throes of interior painting for the entire house and need help desperately. Our kitchen is currently a gross mustard yellow with bright yellow tiles, grey silestone counters, and blue-grey floor tiles. the cabinets are blond-ish wood and some though not all of the appliances are stainless. It makes no sense as a whole room.

  • 162 Stacy // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:46 am

Aaah! I’m looking for paint colors right now! This would be perfect.

  • 163 dinny // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:49 am

How cool that Yolo is going to be @ Lowes! Sad that it’s only on the west coast, but hopefully it will spread east :) Our kitchen… Leaf.04 and I wanted to replace our counter tops with concrete. Could look very natural.

  • 164 fab furs // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:50 am

I would like to have a black and white checkerboard tile floor with lime green cabinets. The cabinet pulls would be OOAK ceramic pieces. And the counter tops would be black granite. I can dream, can’t I?

  • 165 Anna // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:51 am

pastel yellow – so it’s fresh but calming

  • 166 roc_phd // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:53 am

Beautiful colors! And no-VOC is the only way to go. I think after I pick my color, I’ll use those color cards for some sort of abstract art, or to make postcards to send off.

  • 169 Ashley // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:02 am

We just bought a “new” old house and are updating the kitchen. I am thinking a cheery, light green with yellow accents. I live in WA, so I am trying to go with “happy colors” throughout the house!

  • 170 seedless grape // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:04 am

This is sort of random, but I have always coveted the kitchen of Gwyneth Paltrow’s friend in Sliding Doors. (You know, the friend she goes to stay with in the alternate life where she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her.) The kitchen walls were mostly a rich royal blue, but there was also accent tiling in small rainbow-colored tiles, which made it fun.

  • 171 Melissa // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:05 am

Trying to paint my room right now choosing colors is so hard. I think I’m going to pick on a pale yellow but blue is tempting too.

  • 172 Becky // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:08 am

It’s super hard for me to choose, but maybe something bright and cheerful like a warm yellow! Either that or a festive turquoise.

  • 173 anu // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:09 am

    a lovely turquoise!

  • 174 Lynne // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:11 am

  • 175 gwen // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:13 am

I am actually planning on painting our kitchen this very summer! Currently it is a light peachy color that looks dirty, dated and worn in my opinion. I’m hoping to brighten things up with a nice yellow-something that enhances the abundance of sun that the kitchen gets and feels warm and pleasant in the evenings. Thank you for pointing me towards a new paint company I haven’t heard of (and a green on too).

  • 176 Madison // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:19 am

My perfect kitchen…oh boy. This could be a very long answer, so I’m going to do a condensed version. White open shelving, white subway tiling, teal/blue-ish opalescent tiling as an accent, big wooden farmhouse table, many sinks…it goes on and on.

  • 177 Maren // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:21 am

My kitchen would have white cabinets and a springy green on the walls.

  • 180 Cara // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:30 am

I like the idea of a soft orange, or maybe even a bright blue. I think in kitchens you can get away with brighter colors, because the cabinets take up much of the wall space!

  • 181 Kenzie // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:40 am

Red and yellow for a kitchen I think.

  • 182 jennifer e // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:41 am

  • 187 J Schmiett // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:52 am

We getting started on painting our house soon so this would be super helpful to have on hand!

I think we’d go for an earthy neutral color. Although I do like the earlier suggestions of asparagus or teal.

  • 188 Denise // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:53 am

We just remodeled our master bath and are eyeing the kitchen next. In my old condo, I painted the kitchen a brick red and LUV’D it … wouldn’t recommend it for a closed or large space. But it’s a great color if you have a kitchen that opens to a larger space or not a lot of wall space showing (so it appears more like an accent color).

  • 189 Linda Wedding // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:55 am

I love the idea of giving colors that will go with on the back of the card. I am going to check them out for sure.
Not sure about kitchen color hmmmm….I love color and I love black and white….have to think about it a bit more.

  • 190 melissa // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:56 am

Wrong answer considering the giveaway, but I like white in kitchens (with shiny red accents). Live in a ‘green’ building so everything came and has to stay VOC free. REALLY hated my yellow bedroom as a child. Been several decades, but doubt I’ll ever voluntarily paint anything that color even though I can admire it in other peoples’ homes.

  • 191 marymc // Jun 7, 2011 at 11:04 am

Actually, I don’t know what I want. The whole house needs paint. Lots of samples would really help….

  • 192 Janette DeVois // Jun 7, 2011 at 11:11 am

Yellow is my kitchen choice as well! Right now my kitchen is a soft terra cotta (which I loved when I painted it ten years ago!). I really need to get some paint.

  • 193 Samantha // Jun 7, 2011 at 11:14 am

My ideal kitchen would be white with a ton of colorful painted details in robin’s egg blue, red, yellow, orange and teal. No-VOC paint is one of the most amazing things and I’m so excited to see it become more readily available.

  • 194 Jen in TX // Jun 7, 2011 at 11:15 am

So glad to see this is low-VOC paint! I love a kitchen in yellow and reds.

  • 195 jen // Jun 7, 2011 at 11:26 am

I am about to embark on a summer-o’-painting project in which I paint just about every room in my new-ish house. I have maple cabinets in the kitchen and don’t think a yellow would work so well. It’s currently a dark blue, which seems to work for now. Someone painted the ceiling a dark blue that almost — but not quite — matches the walls, so that will have to go. I don’t have colors picked out for all the rooms yet and one of these design kits would totally rock!

  • 196 Amanda // Jun 7, 2011 at 11:27 am

I, too, would have a sunny yellow kitchen, with grape green cabinets, and accents of red and orange. Bright and cheerful! :)

I’ve been struggling to pick colors for our home remodeling. I want something that will be warm and inviting and that will unify the whole house. I love these colors and look forward to choosing a palatte.

  • 223 Shannon // Jun 7, 2011 at 1:35 pm

I love Yolo paint, I used them in my last house and want to use them again in my current house.

  • 224 Faith // Jun 7, 2011 at 1:38 pm

I’m thinking a light blue gray kitchen would be dreamy.

  • 225 Lindsey // Jun 7, 2011 at 1:56 pm

I would paint my kitchen a lovely teal. Wonderful giveaway!

  • 226 Elizabeth // Jun 7, 2011 at 2:18 pm

Love, love, love their colors! We are trying to decide if we are staying in our house – if we stay, the ugly beige will be covered with fantastic color. Orange in the kitchen, blue in the dining room, green in the bedroom, etc. Seattle is too gray to live with beige!

  • 227 Jen // Jun 7, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Wow! You are, like, super giveaway queen of the internet.

If I lived in my dream fantasy world, I’d have a kitchen like a 50s diner: stainless steel everything, black and white checkered tiles, and bright teal accents.

Unfortunately, I live in the I-am-currently-poor-and-renting world and have a kitchen with gross yellow veneer countertops and something-that-splattered-on-the-wall-back-in-1993 wall decor.

  • 228 Amy // Jun 7, 2011 at 2:44 pm

I just moved and could use some color inspiration!

  • 229 Barbara // Jun 7, 2011 at 2:47 pm

  • 230 Lesley // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:00 pm

I always dream of a kitchen with sunny yellow walls — maybe leftover from my childhood kitchen?

  • 231 Jen R // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:09 pm

My kitchen is already the ideal color! It’s a tealy blue-green, and I love it!

  • 232 Johanna // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:13 pm

I need to paint my bedrooms and would love to use a paint I can feel good about. Bonus that it comes in such lovely colors!

  • 233 megan b. // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:19 pm

My kitchen is *going* to be painted seafoam eventually — with lots of pops of red. But our dining room? That is the one we are at a loss about. This set could help immensely!

  • 234 Bron // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:19 pm

I’d love to paint my kitchen a light-to-medium teal, which is–with all its permutations, from aqua to turquoise to teal–my favorite color. My kitchen accents are chocolate brown, bright red, and sunshine yellow. My dishes are teal. So the teal paint on the kitchen walls would be just the thing!

  • 235 Emily // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm

There are so many options when it comes to the kitchen…personally, I would choose a tri-ad of teal-green, pumpkin orange, and sunflower yellow…orange urges the appetite so I would definitely include this into the kitchen color design.

    go yolo!

  • 236 justin // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:20 pm

yes, yes and more YES! i am in the process of finishing my lower level and CANNOT for the life of me pick a paint color. searching, searching and more SEARCHING for a low VOC paint in the right color. This kit would be a life (marriage) saver! :)

I have a cheery yellow kitchen that I like, but my husband isn’t crazy about it. I’m not sure what other color I would pick…the design kit would be so fun! I have several rooms I want to paint!

  • 239 Susan // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:26 pm

Yea for Yolo Colorhouse! I’ve lived in my home since 1999 and most of the walls are still covered with the flat paint the builders put on. I have a goal of getting the first floor painted this summer. These pallets would go a long way in helping me overcome my fear of putting much needed color on my walls! If I win, I plan to donate the kits to the Interior Design department at the local community college when I’m done with them. Good luck to everyone!

  • 240 Diane Lawriw // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:26 pm

  • 248 Serena // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:33 pm

Yolo rocks! I have a “yellow” problem! yellow kitchen, hall, & spare bedroom! but i love it!

  • 249 stacieb // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:34 pm

I just discovered YOLO color house about 2 weeks ago! We are planning on painting the entire inside of our house this Summer. To say the least, we are having a heck of a time trying to come up with a color plan! My kitchen right now is a dark cream. However, in the future, I am thinking a pale yellow of some sort. Thanks for the contest! Someone is going to get very lucky!

  • 250 Winnie // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:37 pm

I heart color. We just moved into a new house 1.5 months ago and still deciding on paint colors. Our kitchen has wallpaper in it right now, but dying for it to come off. I would paint it in a fun bright color inspired by food.

  • 251 Lisa // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:38 pm

I am an interior designer. I love YOLO! My ideal kitchen would be colored poppy!

  • 252 Tyler // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

It would be amazing if Yolo had a more interactive website with color schemes that the user could play around with…for example, Adobe has the Kuler site to select color schemes for anyone wanting to work with schemes such as monochromatic, analogous, complementary, etc … plus you can see how they all work together with the color wheel, etc.

  • 253 Juliet // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

We have a lot of color in our house, but if I were to paint the kitchen again, I would probably go with a burgundy red. The cabinets are white and someday I hope to have soapstone counters instead of the butcher block, so the red would really pop.

  • 254 Beka // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:39 pm

I Love Yolo! We just painted our kitchen Water .03 (I think) and one wall above our table a beautiful sunny gold, one of the Grain colors. This paint is the nicest I’ve worked with! One coat looks like two! This is the only paint I’ll buy.

  • 255 Natalie B // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:48 pm

My kitchen is in desperate need of a paint job… celedon green perhaps?

  • 256 joanna // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:51 pm

Oh these colors are lovely. I’ve always wanted a deep red kitchen, or a pale blue.

  • 257 Penny // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:53 pm

My ideal kitchen would be yellow and blue, a sunny happy combination. I’d like concrete countertops made from recyclable materials, possibly inlaid with bits of yellow and blue pottery.

  • 258 Mitzi Dickerson // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

Don’t get me wrong, I love vanilla, but after 26 years of living in Navajo white-walled military housing, I’m looking forward to splashing some color on the walls of my new house. We’re thinking of keeping the main living areas neutral but something not-white; a parchment or buff perhaps. The kitchen is gorgeous; cherry cabinets that are simply lost in all that off-white; I’m thinking a deep burnished ochre accent wall around the fireplace with a nutty brown or tea-stained brown on the rest of the walls to bring the cabinets and clay tile floor together.

  • 259 Rachel W // Jun 7, 2011 at 3:56 pm

    I want a robin’s egg blue kitchen!

  • 260 Sue // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:01 pm

Love Yolo Colorhouse! Would love to have the colorsets. We need to paint the office room my husband works out of as it’s currently very dull and uninspiring.

Most of my floorplan is pretty much open-plan, so I’ve got a light yellow to tie the formal living room, dining room and kitchen together but have a softer orange (NOT peach-it’s definitely still orange-kind of orangesicle, really) accent wall that I just love. It really marks off the kitchen and makes it seem warm and welcoming. It sounds weird, but the colors work well together, and with the Yolo Water series in the family room, too.

  • 261 LJB // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:07 pm

We are remodeling our kitchen this summer and I’d love to use Yolo!! The colors are so inspiring. The next project after that is the living room. I’ve been living with my husband’s bachelor pad-era bright orange for far too long ;)

  • 265 Roni // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:15 pm

Oh what a great give-away for me. For so many reasons. Just one is the kitchen of the house we’re looking to buy. Not to mention the rest of the future rooms. Win or not, we’re using Yolo paint.

I like food colors in my kitchen. Depending on the light in my near-future cooking space, I plan something on the order of Aspire 05. It reminds me of pie in the summer and squash soup in the winter. mmm…

  • 266 Jennifer June // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:24 pm

Orange? Blue? Orange and blue. Orange on top, blue on bottom?? (I think I could really use that kit.) A new color kitchen would be such a happy thing.

I just learned about this paint at the Remodelista event here in Portland this past Saturday and found the perfect color for my newly updated bathroom, Air05. Matches perfectly to the marmoleum we picked out. Lowes here in Portland was out on Saturday but was expecting a shipment today, so that is where I am headed now!

  • 272 Teri // Jun 7, 2011 at 4:47 pm

My kitchen would be bright white and robin’s egg blue with brushed stainless steel accents.
On a side note, we just moved into a new apartment and one of the bedrooms is acid pink. ACID PINK. I need that design kit like nobody’s business!!!

  • 280 Kim b. // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:00 pm

This is hard; I go through so many options before I can ever make up my mind…Crazy that I have been thinking about changing my kitchen wall color. I am definitely hands on and love colors. With the cabinets that I have painted a red a few years back and the tile an arts and crafts matt green the I made and installed…Not planning on changing those colors, but I would have to say I am drawn to the color of choice perhaps being the Leaf .05, or the Nourish .05, and a maybe even Thrive .03… They all look like they would be in great taste for a kitchen. Since color influences emotions, can it make me a better cook as well? Here’s to hoping.

  • 281 Jill // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:01 pm

I love their paints and this give-away!! I would love to paint a kitchen white with mint green accents…I am absolutely loving mint right now!

  • 282 Stesse // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:14 pm

I’d go for a soft yellow… not only in the kitchen but throughout the entire open plan downstairs. We’re anxiously awaiting news on if our short sale offer was accepted and this would be PERFECT for eliminating the camouflage inspired color pallet (sp?). I wonder if they do outdoor paint… ’cause the puke green stucco is also on my hit list. Just gotta get the house first…

I miss the kitchen at my last place that I painted a wonderful bloody red. Definitely could use the inspiration for new colorful directions-

  • 288 Liz J in Central Illinois // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:45 pm

Right now my kitchen is a sage green, with white cupboards. I would like keep the basic color, but maybe liven the shade up a bit. The sage green that is on there now is a bit “dull” – – it needs to have some “pizazz” to it!

But, I would love to have a nice, bright sunny yellow in the pantry/laundry room right off my kitchen. That would really brighten things up!

  • 289 Sherri Nordyke // Jun 7, 2011 at 5:58 pm

I have a new house that I did all in warm neutral paint to start but now that I’ve lived in it for a while it is time to start adding some color. I wanted to see how the light would fall in the different rooms through the seaosns first.

  • 293 Teri // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:12 pm

Awesome giveaway–one I’d LOVE to win. I’m trying to decide what colors to paint my white, white and white walls. I have a lovely light yellow up my stairs that deepens to a golden as the day progresses…but the rest of the house it basic whites. I need YOLO colors!
I’m thinking Petal .02 for a kitchen would be a nice start with my white cabinets…cheery and able to take pinks, reds, deep greens with it.
Thanks for getting the gears rolling…now I’m headed over to the YOLO site to start my wish list!

  • 294 Evelyn Elaine // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:16 pm

  • 295 Helena // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:27 pm

I actually like to paint! Most of my neighbors thought I was nuts, but I painted the entire outside (Ok, who am I kidding, I did the whole inside too) of my house a couple of years ago. Paint on! :-)

  • 296 Helena // Jun 7, 2011 at 6:30 pm

Wait! I didn’t answer the question! I would re-paint my kitchen with light olive green cabinets, and a really creamy beige-y color for the walls with some dark red accents.

    Such a cool giveaway!
I’ve been trying to decide on the perfect color for a kitchen as their aren’t really any good wall transitions on our main floor. Our living room is in the stone palette so maybe something in the stone or water palette!!

  • 299 Rowena Allen // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:00 pm

I’m a former interior designer and have loved and used YOLO for years. I painted my kitchen Petal 2 – so yummy! I still do design work on the side and recently selected the entire color scheme for a local alternative healing arts and wellness center from YOLO paint palettes. I simply can’t rave enough about how wonderfully all of the colors harmonize and the peace of mind using your no-VOC paints not to mention outstanding performance. Thank you YOLO!!!

  • 309 Cindy // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:37 pm

Any color would be better than all of the paneling that is coming DOWN. It is AWFUL. Im thinking earth tones, ok maybe bright yellow, green, blue. Ok I have no idea yet but soon will. Thanks

  • 310 Laura // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:39 pm

I love white cabinets but I think a touch of turquoise and sea foam green paint would make a beachy paradise!

  • 311 Amy // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:50 pm

I think the kitchen would have to be a light pumpkiny color or blue. I’m trying tO pick a color for my bedroom (after moving in 8 years ago) and my head is swarming with all shades of blue.

  • 312 Keely // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:55 pm

My ideal kitchen would be a sun washed yellow with white, deep red and deep blue tints, in a Tuscan Italian theme!

  • 314 Anotheryarn // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:58 pm

My last kitchen was a pale sunny yellow and I loved it. I can’t imagine my kitchen any other color (though, in reality it would depend on the kitchen – it wouldn’t work at all in our current rental with the peachy counters and cabinets).

  • 315 Rachel // Jun 7, 2011 at 7:58 pm

I think a golden or butter yellow that pops…I love how bright and cheerful it is…maybe different shades of yellow or some greens mixed in…not sure…so many choices!! :)

  • 316 LoLoJo // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:00 pm

I love color in the home. It helps me stay inspired and happy! Right now my dining area is a red-violet called berry syrup which is shot through with a racing stripe that ends up in my kitchen in lime. Maybe not for everyone but it pleases me to bits….:)

  • 317 Sarah // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:09 pm

So, my kitchen is currently tan with an accidentally too bright Tang-orange wall… and golden oak cabinets. But this summer, the cabinets will be painted creamy off-white and the walls will be a delightfully light-sage-hint-of-yellow-green. Can’t wait!

  • 318 Joey // Jun 7, 2011 at 8:10 pm

I’m sort of in a green phase, so I think I would shoot for something in a green tone….

We’re moving in the fall and will finally be staying put long enough to justify painting a rental. These look amazing, and I hope they come to the east coast! (As for kitchen color, I agree that pale yellow can’t be beat — except maybe all-chalkboard walls, with lots of white chalk handy for recipes and drawings.)

Winning isn’t everything but it would ease our color choice decision making for our (fingers-crossed) upcoming addition.

Yolo’s Colors make NW winters a little brighter.

  • 331 lolo // Jun 7, 2011 at 9:40 pm

I’m looking for nursery paint right now—- this would be a perfect start!

  • 332 Sarah // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:13 pm

We redid the kitchen of the family home three years ago, and my mother wanted a sunny yellow. We borrowed the colour card set from the renovation company, and I thought lemongrass (yellow-green) was a better choice, but Mom was sure about yellow. I bought samples of the yellow she liked and the lemongrass and painted up sample boards. The kitchen is lemongrass.

(The labour was me, because one day into the kitchen renovation, Mom took a tumble down the back stairs onto the concrete patio and broke both wrists. Boy, that was fun.)

  • 333 Christina DV // Jun 7, 2011 at 10:45 pm

We had a yellow kitchen growing up and it was always so bright. I really loved is, so i think I would do that. Or else white and blue.

  • 334 Vera Meier // Jun 7, 2011 at 11:19 pm

at the moment it’s fuchsia. but, i’m getting a new roommate. time for a change: kind of warm peach gray.

Light green (pastel) with golden yellow/almost orange accents.

  • 337 mel // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:40 am

Brickhouse red. With a creamy white trim and slate countertops.

  • 338 Callie // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:48 am

I’ve been planning on re-doing my rental kitchen for a while. It’s currently a very 70’s-looking dark brown paneling – I’ve been dreaming of priming over all that, then going with pale blue walls and white cabinets.

  • 339 Gloria // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:57 am

It would be great to win. I’ve not seen these before.

  • 340 Lynn // Jun 8, 2011 at 1:02 am

I’m afraid of color! – to give you an idea of how afraid – white and various shades of white are all that adorn my interior walls. Don’t even ask about my wardrobe. Maybe winning this will change my life! ;)

Color is so inspiring…..thanks for the giveaway! crossing my fingers! :)

  • 347 Sara // Jun 8, 2011 at 9:13 am

Oh, I would love these, and my talented artist teenage daughter would be in heaven!

My kitchen is a great color already, thanks to the tasteful previous owners of my house; a grey green khaki-ish color, with ivory cabinets (though am finding painted cabinets to be a royal PITA), with a beautiful sky blue ceiling.

  • 348 Darlen e // Jun 8, 2011 at 9:24 am

OMG – I love paint chips – They are so inspiring! Thanks for posting about this company – It’s new to me.

My dream kitchen? Either a soft robin’s egg blue or a very pale pink.

  • 350 cori // Jun 8, 2011 at 9:31 am

yolo!! my bf and i got to be the first yolo customers at the first lowe’s to sell it (in tigard, or) ~ everyone was so helpful and our living room, dining room and hallway turned out beautifully. plus no stinky fumes! so glad yolo exists :)

  • 351 Debra // Jun 8, 2011 at 9:55 am

Funny. I just painted our spare room closet yesterday with Yolo paint in a lovely green. I am converting the closet into an office for my husband but I didn’t want him to notice it until I finish putting it together today. Even though I painted it in the afternoon, by the time it dried there was no smell at all. Love the no VOC action.

  • 352 Kristin // Jun 8, 2011 at 10:07 am

    Yellow. Yellow? Yellow!

  • 353 amanda // Jun 8, 2011 at 10:24 am

I want a green kitchen—spring or mint greens to be exact. . . fresh!

  • 354 Steph N // Jun 8, 2011 at 10:29 am

My current kitchen faces south and gets too much light sometimes–in my dream kitchen, the light would be bright but indirect, so I could use a bright leafy green or pumpkin orange.

  • 355 Kathy // Jun 8, 2011 at 10:40 am

I am currently knee deep in painting my whole house. This would be amazing! My husband and I “passionately discussed” paint colors for our kitchen for days. Finally on a truce we went to get frozen yogurt, fell in love with the color of the shop and comitted it to paint for our kitchen. Now we are free to be nice to each other again because our kitchen is a happy melon color like a ripe cantaloupe! :)

  • 356 Megan // Jun 8, 2011 at 11:07 am

We close on our brand new house on the 14th, and all the walls are contractor white. We will be painting, most definitely, and paint swatches will take over the house first. We have natural birch floors and maple cabinets that are a warm, reddish color called Spice. I’m thinking a soft, celery green to balance all the warm tones, or maybe a half-strength version of a Mediterranean turquoise.

  • 357 Robbyn P // Jun 8, 2011 at 11:32 am

We just purchased our first home…a fabulous old Chicago condo. Our goal is to make our home as green/eco friendly as we can and companies like Yolo make that possible. I would LOVE to win this package as we are on a huge budget right now. So come on random number gods and pick me!
Thank you for introducing me to Yolo!

  • 358 Robyn // Jun 8, 2011 at 11:34 am

I am planning on repainting my kitchen “soleil” yellow in the next few weeks. I originally painted it lime green when I bought my house…first time home buyer’s craziness I think.

  • 359 Prisca // Jun 8, 2011 at 11:34 am

Hoping to move in to a new home by the end of the year and I have visions of paint everywhere— except I’m not much of a designer and therefore a little clueless. This would be GREAT!! Glad to know about the product as well. With two little ones it’s important to me to find a paint where the fumes won’t knock us out!

  • 360 Stephanie // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:05 pm

I don’t have any idea what color I would paint my kitchen. Maybe a light gray – to stay neutral but get away from my builder’s “oatmeal” standard paint.

  • 361 Ann B // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:09 pm

In my dream kitchen, I really commit to color! The walls would be a warm, spicy red / orange.

  • 362 ~Heather // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:18 pm

After the disaster that is still our yellow kitchen and bathroom, I need to figure out a way to include a LITTLE bit of color in with a whole lot of neutral.

  • 363 just barrie // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:22 pm

oh please pick me – we just bought and moved into our first place and it desperately needs paint. i would love to do a butter yellow for the kitchen and a mint green for the living room.

  • 364 Octavia // Jun 8, 2011 at 12:26 pm

I don’t why I haven’t thought of lime, black and white before. It’s one of my favorite combos. Thanks!

  • 368 Megan // Jun 8, 2011 at 1:53 pm

I LOVE Yolo! We used their paints for 2 rooms we recently painted in our house and I couldn’t believe how wonderful the quality and colors were. The staff is unbelievable as well. We just painted the kitchen with yolo’s clay .05 and I couldn’t love it more.
We’re planning on moving though, and I’ll need this prize to help me paint our next house.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  • 369 Melanie D. // Jun 8, 2011 at 2:09 pm

These look so beautiful! Would love to win this one! Still deciding on what the color palette for my home should be.

  • 370 Sarah Jane // Jun 8, 2011 at 2:10 pm

I want to paint my kitchen a nice apple green! or celery.

  • 371 Claire // Jun 8, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I’d go with a deep leafy green – something fresh, but not too light so it doesn’t show my spattering :)

  • 372 Jessica // Jun 8, 2011 at 3:06 pm

I love green – depending on the amount of natural light it would be anything from forest green to a bright kelly green.

  • 373 Allison // Jun 8, 2011 at 3:24 pm

We are painting our entire house! The former owners really liked dark brown throughout the house and it makes it feel closed in. I want to paint one wall in our living room a rusty orange color to brighten it up.

  • 374 ROK // Jun 8, 2011 at 3:39 pm

I used to hate all purple (scared from early childhood perhaps), but I’m currently thinking of painting my kitchen a pale, gray-ish lavender. Seems cheerful but calm.

  • 375 Isabel // Jun 8, 2011 at 3:42 pm

I love saturated colors throughout the house! My house came painted with interesting colors throughout. The kitchen color is a bit intense, though — a kind of highlightery fluorescent chartreuse color. Whoa! I think maybe something similar, but more yellow, less highlighter, would be lovely. :)

  • 376 LoraLynn // Jun 8, 2011 at 4:46 pm

Mine would be a sage green. For the whole house!! It goes great with our bookshelves and other dark brown furniture!

  • 377 Meagan // Jun 8, 2011 at 4:58 pm

Those are some beautiful colors! I want the perfect apple green color in my kitchen…it’s hard to find.

  • 378 essbee // Jun 8, 2011 at 5:16 pm

Our place desperately needs some color…I’ve been too chicken to start because we’re so picky about colors and we have such different tastes that the last time we painted (former house), our walls had so many patches of different colors all over them that the house looked like we just decided to paint it madras. Yolo’s way would be better.

  • 379 Lynn // Jun 8, 2011 at 5:20 pm

It always takes me FOREVER to decide on colors to paint either the inside or outside walls. Our living room is now a screaming shade of red-gold and I am looking forward to a nice neutral next time around! For the kitchen….I really like the soft sage green that I painted mine but then I had to work with rose-pink tile counter tops.

  • 380 ansley // Jun 8, 2011 at 6:27 pm

Ooh, I still need to buy paint for my studio room at home. This would be perfect.

  • 381 Louise // Jun 8, 2011 at 6:28 pm

This is right down my alley… I love paint samples! I’m about to move to a new house and have been so happy with my kitchen color here (2 story Colonial), I think I’ll use the same color when I move to the new place (1 floor ’62 ranch): pale grey green with lots of white trim and butcher block. Just lovely!

  • 382 andrea // Jun 8, 2011 at 7:15 pm

Whoa – I would love to win this! As for my perfect kitchen (for now), I think a robin’s egg blue would be in order. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • 383 Sandra // Jun 8, 2011 at 7:43 pm

I want my kitchen to be light blue! I’ve actually always had dreams of a black and white kitchen with lots of plants, but that’s not going to work in this house! (Tiny tiny kitchen.)

  • 384 Christy // Jun 8, 2011 at 7:44 pm

I just told my husband the other day that life would be simpler w/my own set of paint chips like designers have, lol. I think the ideal kitchen is a warm, sunny yellow-that’s how I painted mine anyway!

  • 385 Katina // Jun 8, 2011 at 7:45 pm

I would do the yellow, too! It’s my absolute favourite, my kitchen now is yellow, but i’d love to have it more bright and vivid and have white as opposed to the wood-coloured trim everywhere, and perhaps re-painted wood cabinets, white again =) so lovely!

  • 386 vanessa // Jun 8, 2011 at 7:46 pm

gotta show love for environmentally friendly products! i’d paint my kitchen a light greenish gray.

  • 387 Rachael K. // Jun 8, 2011 at 8:15 pm

My ideal kitchen would be white with pops of reds and blacks. . .but then I vacillate and think I’d like a green and blue kitchen.

  • 388 Crystal // Jun 8, 2011 at 8:26 pm

My ideal kitchen is white, with pale lime green and deep black accents.

  • 389 FrugalHomemaker // Jun 8, 2011 at 8:32 pm

I’m in a blue kick right now, so my ideal kitchen would be cobalt blue with white accents and stainless-steel appliances (to add silver to the mix).

  • 390 Eleanor // Jun 8, 2011 at 8:41 pm

I actually just finished painting my kitchen a light blue-grey-green. It’s a very pretty color but I don’t love it so I’m itching to repaint. The creamy color I picked out to do my cabinets is amazing and I’m now thinking I want that on the walls instead! It’s so soft and warm and makes me think of homemade vanilla ice cream…yum!

  • 391 Kate // Jun 8, 2011 at 8:55 pm

My kitchen is too white. Hopefully someday it will be a cheery green.

  • 392 Stacy // Jun 8, 2011 at 9:07 pm

  • 394 Madie // Jun 8, 2011 at 9:41 pm

I like warm colors so I would probably go for a gold/yellow! :)

  • 399 Carolyn // Jun 9, 2011 at 8:21 am

You’re right about the yellow- mine would be pale yellow with the inside of the cupboards a bright crisp apple green and wavy glass doors. :)

  • 400 Karen // Jun 9, 2011 at 8:35 am

LOVE Yolo! Hope to move this year (fingers crossed) and have been picking out my favs. In the kitchen, hopefully warm rich wood cabinets like cherry, and I’d paint Sprout .05 (today, anyway ;) )
I am a designer, this would be perfect to win – Thanks for the chance!

  • 401 Laura J // Jun 9, 2011 at 9:06 am

I’m debating a soft, buttery yellow for our sunny kitchen. It’s hard to find a good yellow to go with our reddish/orange-ish cherry stained cabinets & tile floors

  • 402 Catherine // Jun 9, 2011 at 9:49 am

What a fabulous line of paint! I am so sad this is only on the west coast as we buy all our paint from Lowe’s. We live on the east coast and we are in the process of repainting most of the rooms in our house. Only 40% done so this would be a nice time to try some new paint and new colors.

I saw the most amazing deep yellow color on the exterior of a home yesterday when I took a wrong turn and had to take the long-way to the store. It’s a deep yellow that verges on orange. It was beautiful and bright and what a wonderful way to wake up in the morning for that first cup of coffee. that would be my ideal color, but for now, I’m saving my pennies to get out of apartment life.

I don’t know about my ideal kitchen, but this particular kitchen seems to be asking for a light, bright blue (not something I’d ever imagine I’d choose, but there you have it). And today I got the go ahead from our landlords to paint…hooray!

  • 447 Jerri Mock // Jun 10, 2011 at 5:10 pm

I love color so much that I wish paint was edible as I would slurp it right out of the can! I always wanted either a egg yolk yellow wall with bright cherry red trim, or a French blue & sunny yellow scheme. I’d love to have the kit to help me determine the best or even another possibility!!

  • 448 Bess // Jun 10, 2011 at 5:24 pm

Hilariously, my kitchen is half-painted right now due to some confusion with contractors. Thanks for reinstalling the cabinets, guys, but it would’ve been nice if the wall was all one color first! Due to constraints of existing cabinets / counter-top / vinyl flooring, the current (supposed-to-be) paint color is dove grey.

But ideally? I love sunny happy kitchens, so maybe white cabinets with yellowy-mango walls. Sigh.

  • 449 June Jones // Jun 10, 2011 at 6:20 pm

I have a “Where are my sunglasses?!” yellow kitchen, but I need to repaint my cabinets. I’m just not sure what color to paint them.

  • 450 Sally // Jun 10, 2011 at 6:41 pm

My kitchen is on its fourth (!!) shade of green. I think a color change is in order. I don’t know what it should be at all. Really, no idea. The posters would be an inspiring way to break out of a rut, though.

  • 451 Rebecca // Jun 10, 2011 at 6:43 pm

My ideal kitchen (and my current, non-ideal kitchen) are the same: white! But I’d put the design kit to work to pick a paint color for my soon-to-arrive son’s room!

  • 452 Heather // Jun 10, 2011 at 7:44 pm

I can’t decide what color, that is why I need to win!

  • 453 Anna Perez-Pelaez // Jun 10, 2011 at 8:31 pm

The shade of sky blue on a clear June morning in the Midwest.

  • 454 Marsha // Jun 10, 2011 at 9:22 pm

That’s a great question—one that I’m currently struggling to answer. My kitchen walls are in dire need of repainting, but I’m not sure what would go with the cabinets, vinyl, and appliances (all of which must stay). Since I have to work with a lot of honey/light-brown tones, I’m mulling over trying something blueish for the walls.

  • 455 Julie // Jun 10, 2011 at 11:11 pm

love the depth of color in Yolo paints…

  • 456 Agnes // Jun 10, 2011 at 11:43 pm

I first learned of Yolo Colorhouse when we were painting the kids’ rooms and wanted zero-VOC paint. We got a custom color mixed at Green Sacramento, which is now closed :(. BUT, reading here that Yolo is now available at Lowe’s… you’ve made my day!!!

  • 457 Lisa // Jun 11, 2011 at 2:21 am

My only experience with painting was with a gorgeous non-VOC bright yellow, about 2.5 years ago, doh! My ideal kitchen color would be a nice bright red-orange, but I haven’t been able to find a good non-VOC one yet. So I’ll have to check out Yolo at Lowe’s soon :)

  • 458 Cathy // Jun 11, 2011 at 5:02 am

Anything other than country print wallpaper would be an improvement over my kitchen at the moment! But bright.

  • 459 hailey // Jun 11, 2011 at 6:12 am

This is so exciting to read! I love love love YOLO!! I’ve just recently purchased an older house and am currently obsessed with stenciling with different colors and textures. This variety would help my creative juices flow!

  • 460 Frankie // Jun 11, 2011 at 9:01 am

    Love all the colors!!!

  • 461 Ashley // Jun 11, 2011 at 9:07 am

My grandmother has been dying to paint her house, it’s a sad scene stuck in the 70’s.

  • 462 Melissa // Jun 11, 2011 at 10:11 am

My kitchen is already its ideal color–a gorgeous hot pink called Zany Pink (Sherwin Williams). It makes me happy to be in there!

  • 463 Paula // Jun 11, 2011 at 10:31 am

I love those colors! My house needs a FULL make over! I painted ( yes, just me) all the walls in my house 13 years ago. It’s time for a change. Please enter me into this drawing!!

  • 464 heather // Jun 11, 2011 at 11:05 am

I would love these! I have a new house and brewery opening in the fall and we need help with color. This would be so lovely!

  • 465 rebecca // Jun 11, 2011 at 12:20 pm

probably a very very pale yellow or green with some awesome accent color like turquoise or bright red.

  • 466 Wehaf // Jun 11, 2011 at 1:27 pm

I’d love a creamy white to set off our dark cupboards.

  • 467 Suzanne // Jun 11, 2011 at 1:38 pm

I vacillate between wanting a sunny yellow kitchen, a soothing moss green, or a vibrant red. Which is why my kitchen is currently tan. I can’t make up my mind!

  • 468 Emily // Jun 11, 2011 at 3:54 pm

Oh, I love this giveaway!! My husband and I are buying our first house (closing is Wednesday!!) and the interior needs some serious paint love. These would be a fabulous resource for planning what to do…

For kitchens, I love a breezy white and light aqua combination. Thanks for a fantastic giveaway!!

  • 469 Stephanie Svajgl // Jun 11, 2011 at 4:18 pm

WOW! This is awesome! We are in need of a whole house repaint and are so indecisive about what colors to pick, this would be such a help!

  • 470 diane // Jun 11, 2011 at 4:51 pm

my kitchen is a cheery yellow now with lots of red but it needs an update! And the rest of the house is still white because I just can’t decide on what colors to choose!

  • 471 Emily // Jun 11, 2011 at 8:34 pm

my ideal kitchen would be a sunny yellow, too. i could definitely use some obsessing about color – i need to find the perfect blue for our laundry room!

  • 472 Kristin Staton-Heit // Jun 11, 2011 at 8:45 pm

dusty depression green. with white subway tile and glass fronted cabinets.

  • 473 Chari // Jun 11, 2011 at 8:46 pm

    Yellow! Definitely Yellow!

  • 474 Christine S // Jun 11, 2011 at 9:25 pm

Hmmm.. it really depends on the home for me. I’d like to think I would paint a kitchen green.. or yellow. Someday I hope to find out.

  • 475 Claudia // Jun 12, 2011 at 4:46 am

How awesome! I think I’d paint my kitchen a gorgeous rich indigo color to go with the mostly silver and grey kitchen utensils.

  • 476 Monique // Jun 12, 2011 at 7:01 am

We need to paint our kitchen and I love the aspire color pallet. Thanks for this giveaway!

  • 477 Linda M // Jun 12, 2011 at 7:09 am

Yours is a serendipitous site for me. It usually answers some current question or craft desire when I visit. Just yesterday I wanted to patch some spots in the kitchen and decided to repaint the whole room. I am looking for a butter yellow with a bit of ochre in it.

  • 478 rachel // Jun 12, 2011 at 8:54 am

As an artist I am ALL about the color! The more vivid the better. I am currently trying to update my parent’s house (they moved in 17 years ago and they never decorated to make it their own…there are still ‘children’s room’ wallpaper and hideous carpets everywhere!) This would be a huge boon! Thanks

  • 479 Kathleen // Jun 12, 2011 at 9:46 am

I would like to paint my kitchena bright schoolbus yellow-to contrast with cherry cabinets with a slate floor. my nest choice would be a robin’s egg blue–bright and cheery and easy to decorate for the different seasons. thanks, kw

  • 480 Patti S // Jun 12, 2011 at 11:50 am

I love color..would love to be able to paint my kitchen a new color every 6 months on whatever my fancy feels like that day.

  • 481 Margot // Jun 12, 2011 at 12:17 pm

I’ve been wanting to redo our kitchen in something between French Blue and a Cornflower Blue. Something light and airy, yet relaxing. I think their water.05 is nice start.

  • 482 jena // Jun 12, 2011 at 2:09 pm

I love all these colors!! I would use them for repurposing old wood for signs/paintings. Can’t wait to win so I can get to work!

  • 483 Helena // Jun 12, 2011 at 2:24 pm

I would adore a kiwi accent wall….bright white walls with a slate grey counter. Ah….a girl can dream – can’t she?

  • 484 Maryanne // Jun 12, 2011 at 3:19 pm

My husband (who happens to be a LEED-certified architect) and I redid our kitchen last year and chose a very pale yellow for the walls. I’m a white walls kind of girl, so it was a huge departure for me.

  • 485 Catherine R. // Jun 12, 2011 at 4:10 pm

Hmm I love the color of a roasted pumpkin or a light gray color with white cabinets with glass…ah. And especially since I do live in Seattle if I painted it a gray it’d be a kind of gray we don’t already see many days out of the year! Haha :)

  • 486 Bee // Jun 12, 2011 at 5:31 pm

My dream kitchen is all stainless steel and a dark cutting board counters, so I think I would go with a deep grey on the walls, maybe with a blue hint. Something that blends with industrial!

  • 487 Deyanira // Jun 12, 2011 at 6:11 pm

gimme gimee hahaha hope to win this!

  • 488 Jessica // Jun 12, 2011 at 7:06 pm

I would love my kitchen to be painted white and black, with pops of teal and red….I think this giveaway would be very useful as I’ve only painted one room in my otherwise cream house…in two years, mainly due to indecision – lol

  • 489 Allison // Jun 12, 2011 at 7:42 pm

I’d love a warm and sunny kitchen someday!

  • 490 Judy // Jun 12, 2011 at 8:21 pm

I have many white walls in my house. Would love some inspiration!

  • 491 Jennifer // Jun 12, 2011 at 8:30 pm

We just bought a house and have lots of painting to do. So many colors to pick out and these look beautiful!

  • 492 Merrit // Jun 12, 2011 at 8:52 pm

well, this is exciting! I am DYING to paint my bedroom!

  • 493 Saira // Jun 12, 2011 at 8:56 pm

I’d go with an aqua-colored kitchen like Sprout .05. Then… white cabinets, nickel hardware, and random orange accents – like a big bowl of oranges!

  • 494 Michelle k // Jun 12, 2011 at 9:07 pm

I’ll look for these at the store! If I can ever pick a color for the bathroom!

  • 495 Betsy // Jun 12, 2011 at 9:25 pm

I have to say that i’m so over the granite countertop and stainless steel appliance look. It’ so boring. I would love a kitchen with light gray walls, white cabinets, and lots of pops of coral and turquoise. With concrete countertops

  • 496 Micki // Jun 12, 2011 at 9:27 pm

I love the idea of a “colour of hope” collection!

  • 497 Jennifer // Jun 12, 2011 at 9:28 pm

I plan on painting my kitchen yellow- it’s just a matter of picking the right one…

  • 498 scrapper al // Jun 12, 2011 at 9:45 pm

I’d like either a rich burgundy or a muted yellow. It depends on the cabinets we end up with.

  • 499 Danika // Jun 12, 2011 at 11:53 pm

Green =). Green is my favourite colour!

  • 500 deepali // Jun 13, 2011 at 12:07 am

    orange orange and more

  • 501 Karen N // Jun 13, 2011 at 9:42 am

I have a limeade green kitchen that I love! I need to figure out what to do with the rest of my house. :)

  • 502 Emily Anne // Jun 13, 2011 at 11:11 am

These look like nice modern colors I would love to try. Into orange and wooly grey right now.

  • 503 Courtney // Jun 13, 2011 at 12:30 pm

This would be a great tool for us as we slowly try to update the house we bought last year. The kitchen is a tough one…our kitchen right now has huge, old cupboards that are painted white and a white subway tile backsplash but we have nice wood countertops and stainless appliances so the white works…anything else would be too overwhelming I think. Our breakfast nook is bright yellow and I love how uplifting it is…even on a dreary June morning. ;)

  • 504 RC // Jun 13, 2011 at 12:50 pm

When we move out of our current home into a new home, we will need to paint it up!

  • 505 BC // Jun 13, 2011 at 2:55 pm

For a place that I spend a great deal of time, I would want my kitchen to be warm and inviting. I would love to a deep clay colored wall with earthy toned cabinets. Would love a Yolo design kit!

  • 506 Jodi // Jun 13, 2011 at 3:35 pm

Wow…I love these colors. I am most impressed with the earth tones. Clay and Grain are my favorites. Thanks for the great website. We are using one of your ideas for a summer school art project.

  • 507 jessebest // Jun 13, 2011 at 4:02 pm

dreary rooms deserve to be yolo’d!

  • 508 Katy // Jun 13, 2011 at 4:07 pm

Timing couldn’t be more perfect! We will soon finish drywall for 6 rooms and need to decide on colors!

  • 509 Valerie // Jun 13, 2011 at 5:11 pm

Orange! Orange is my favorite color and a bright, sunny orange kitchen would make every day happier for me.

  • 510 leslie wexler // Jun 13, 2011 at 6:30 pm

with an infant in the house low VOC is a priority for us…as is a perfectly sky blue kitchen ;)

  • 511 Luci // Jun 13, 2011 at 6:35 pm

My ideal kitchen would probably have white walls, but LOTS of splashes of color … lime and tomato red is my current favorite combination (think Granny Smith and Red Delicious apples in a bowl).

I love imagining all the things I could do if I won this contest!

  • 512 Phyllis // Jun 13, 2011 at 7:18 pm

    yay colors!

  • 513 deborah mori // Jun 13, 2011 at 7:31 pm

My ideal kitchen would be black and white with orange accents. Sigh.

  • 514 Kem // Jun 13, 2011 at 9:28 pm

I would also do a bright happy yellow as it is my fav color with slate gray cuboards and pops of blue to remind me of the sea.
