May Birthday Giveaway: soaps from Product Body

soaps from Product Body

What’s going on here? My site started ten years ago this month and to celebrate I’m giving away something each weekday. Because I like you.

Today I’ve got something that will help you clean up, a three pack of soaps from Product Body. The soaps, from top to bottom, are Tea Party “A wonderful scent that evokes memories of lazy summers, Tea Party is like drinking honey-sweetened iced tea with lemon beside a patch of honeysuckle.” Cubano “A shot of steaming Cuban espresso with chocolate shavings, served with vanilla bourbon, a sprinkle of cardamom and a dollop of cream. Made with real cocoa.” Alabaster Sea Salt + Coconut Milk Bar “A pure white bar made with Pacific sea salt, there are no added scents or colors, just oils, sea salt and coconut milk to build copious amounts of lather and leave you incredibly soft.” Is anybody else hungry right now? I’ve previously used Joanna’s Crush On You sugar scrub and found it to be perfection. Joanna is also offering a discount to Not Martha readers, that’s you! Use NOTMARTHA15 for 15% off. Thanks Joanna! (Valid through June 15th, one coupon per customer.)

To win these excellent soaps please leave a comment with this entry, and if you’d like something to talk about answer this question: What are your fragrance notes in soaps and perfumes? I always go for citrus scents first. Green scents are my next favorite, I’m definitely a fan of the things that smell very fresh. Your turn, you’ve got until Wednesday, June 1st at 10 a.m. PST to enter (I’m giving this one a longer entry time as I didn’t realize I’d scheduled it on a holiday weekend, oops!), the fine print applies. Good luck! Closed, thank you for entering!

  • 8 Cynthaz // May 30, 2011 at 3:48 am

I always love a rose perfume, and I use lavender all around the home. Hubby prefers coconut for his soap though.

  • 9 Little Miss S. // May 30, 2011 at 3:53 am

Those soaps look so pretty. I’m, like a lot others, into citrus tomes. And mint.

  • 10 Kate // May 30, 2011 at 4:12 am

I’m not a big perfume wearer but love citrus smells for showering. My favourite would have to be lime (which reminds me yesterday I baked some small blueberry pies in jars inspired by your guide and used lime juice instead of lemon – mmmm!).

  • 11 Jo // May 30, 2011 at 4:14 am

Usually citrus and greens, but once had a vanilla soap for a while and it was luxurious!

  • 12 Katie // May 30, 2011 at 4:20 am

I tend to go with light florals, but citrus is always a good alternative. Not so much a chocolate/vanilla/food scent kind of person!

  • 13 Kiri // May 30, 2011 at 4:25 am

Jasmine or vanilla. Although it’s really hard to find good jasmine scented soap

  • 14 Amanda Talbert // May 30, 2011 at 4:25 am

  • 33 Anna // May 30, 2011 at 5:37 am

I try to match scents to the season, so right now coconut would definitely be at the top of the list!

  • 34 April // May 30, 2011 at 5:39 am

I also really like citrus smells for soap, it’s just so clean. Although I am a sucker for anything vanilla, coconut or lavender too.

  • 35 Elise // May 30, 2011 at 5:41 am

I go between sweet and citrus scents. During the winter I prefer sweeter scents, but when the weather is warmer I like citrus or minty scents. I picked up a rosemary and mint shampoo at Trader Joe’s and I love how it smells, it’s so refreshing!

  • 36 Rachel // May 30, 2011 at 5:47 am

my soap preferences change radically season to season. usually in the winter I prefer soaps that just smell like “soap”, but in the warmer months I like minty, cucumbery, fresh smells. except right now I am ub-sessed with all things coconut! These all seem perfect and lovely :)

  • 37 r. // May 30, 2011 at 5:48 am

Earthy sandalwoods, citrus, bergamot, mint and some florals all work for me.

  • 38 Andrea from NC // May 30, 2011 at 5:48 am

These soaps sound absolutely wonderful and good for the skin. Hope I get to try them out :)

  • 39 Ladywild // May 30, 2011 at 5:52 am

I love sandalwood, lavender, and citrus.

  • 40 sara // May 30, 2011 at 5:53 am

I used to say citrus, but these days I’m obsessed with the pistachio-flavored soap from Lush, so I guess I’d have to go with “nutty”!

  • 41 Gweneth // May 30, 2011 at 5:57 am

I would have to say spearmint or bergamot scents.

  • 42 Amber // May 30, 2011 at 5:59 am

I love clean sheet/clean linen type scents.

  • 43 Michelle // May 30, 2011 at 6:06 am

i generally go for a citrus, but i’ve been starting to enjoy a light lavender

  • 44 Rachel // May 30, 2011 at 6:12 am

I recently bought handmade soap while visiting my sister. I bought 3 bars that were citrus variations and one licorice sage. My favorite solid hand lotion is warm spices. so I think my scent preferences change a bit with the seasons. Florals are least likely to be used at my house.

  • 45 Laura GF // May 30, 2011 at 6:14 am

I usually go for sweet or floral.

  • 46 Ecochic // May 30, 2011 at 6:14 am

  • 47 Tonya // May 30, 2011 at 6:15 am

    My favorite scent is lavender.

  • 48 Jessie // May 30, 2011 at 6:25 am

I love citruses and fresh scents, though in the winter I do like something warmer.

I love coconut, lavender, and rose (probably not all together though:-)

I like citrus or vanilla. Thanks for the chance to win!

  • 55 Bonnie // May 30, 2011 at 6:43 am

Peppermint is my first stop for body and hair, and citrus for housecleaning.

  • 63 Kelly // May 30, 2011 at 6:57 am

I would love to win this because I absolutely adore homemade soap. Thanks!

  • 64 Hilary // May 30, 2011 at 7:00 am

I like mint best, but I also go for “dark” food scents, like coffee, chocolate and chestnut. And coconut!

  • 65 Anna // May 30, 2011 at 7:05 am

Lemon verbena, mandarin orange, lavender, rose, pine are all lovely. And pure beeswax sends me over the hills.

  • 66 Marie // May 30, 2011 at 7:06 am

I have enjoyed reading your site since I stumbled onto it over 2 years ago. I have made several of your food creations with great success! My son loves the pies in a jar the best. Thank you. This is the first time I have left a comment. I just wanted to say keep up the excellent work it is much needed amongst those of us who need a creative boost every so often.

Ooh, I love fancy soaps! I usually prefer florals, but I like fresh, green scents, too.

  • 69 --Deb // May 30, 2011 at 7:15 am

Lemon is by far my favorite scent for soaps and lotions, followed by other citrus notes, then other fruits. Not a fan of flower-scents, not sure why!

  • 70 nissa // May 30, 2011 at 7:15 am

citrus, usually pink grapefruit, or bergamont

  • 71 Jen // May 30, 2011 at 7:17 am

No perfume, but I like floral scents in general and gardenia in particular. Not sure why that’s so comforting to me, but I love it.

  • 72 Anne At Large // May 30, 2011 at 7:18 am

I like lemony scents, particularly lemon verbena, followed by lavender (as long as it’s not TOO strong).

  • 73 Kaitlyn M. // May 30, 2011 at 7:25 am

Peaches and vanilla, cucumber and mint… there are so many wonderful scents!!

I just love tropical scents! Although mint has to be a close second

I love citrus and freesia and gardenia. In the summer I love coconut.

  • 81 Jen // May 30, 2011 at 7:45 am

Something funny I’ve noticed about soap fragrance is that most women I know associate lavender-scented things with old ladies, so tend to shy away from lavender soaps and lotions. However, most guys I know (this would be mid 20s, my boyfriend included) LOVE lavender. Maybe they all secretly want to date their grandmas. haha

  • 82 Katrina // May 30, 2011 at 7:51 am

I also am in the citrus and florals camp – looks like a lot of us!

  • 83 Melissa // May 30, 2011 at 7:56 am

The write-up makes them all sound fantastic. I love the smell of pachouli.

  • 84 Shelley // May 30, 2011 at 7:56 am

I am with you on liking the citrus scents…but I would have to include all fruits. No reflection on my mental state but I am a fruity-not-a floral- kind of gal!

  • 85 Cecile // May 30, 2011 at 8:01 am

I’m crazy about handmade soaps! I never can have enough of them (the ones that are smelling too good to use under the shower go in my drawers, closets or yarn bins…).

  • 86 Rebecca // May 30, 2011 at 8:10 am

I prefer my soaps to be mild and not too flowery. I like citrus and mild lavendar soaps.

  • 87 michellita // May 30, 2011 at 8:11 am

i’d love to have some new soaps in my tub!

  • 91 A.M. // May 30, 2011 at 8:19 am

  • 92 Marcy // May 30, 2011 at 8:23 am

    Citrus!

  • 93 Susan // May 30, 2011 at 8:24 am

  • 97 Sandy // May 30, 2011 at 8:30 am

One of my favorites is rosemary and mint.

  • 98 Kate // May 30, 2011 at 8:34 am

    Usually citrus, grapefruit in particular.

  • 111 Nancy // May 30, 2011 at 9:02 am

Beach. Bread. Dogs. If they could make a fragrance that smelled like these, I’d be a loyal customer.

I love earthly smells combined with citruses to keep them from getting too heavy.

  • 113 Tara // May 30, 2011 at 9:06 am

  • 114 Beth K. // May 30, 2011 at 9:10 am

I’m with you on the citrus and green…I like fresh. Sometimes I’ll surprise myself and like a floral scent (cherry blossom!), but typically it’s the citrus I love most.

My favorites are sandalwood, sage, juniper…scents of the high desert.

  • 120 Kelly // May 30, 2011 at 9:26 am

Almond and citrus notes for me. Vanilla only rarely- usually it’s too cloying!

  • 128 Sarah V. // May 30, 2011 at 9:47 am

The soaps look lovely! I really like vanilla, BUT not if it smells like vanilla icing or is overly sweet. Clean, regular vanilla I love though. I’m a big fan of citrus too, and coconut will ALWAYS win me over.

  • 129 Jessica // May 30, 2011 at 9:51 am

I’ve recently been really into citrus, but I will always be partial to florals (the naturally scented kind; there’s not much worse than fake florals): rose & lavender in particular.

  • 148 k a t // May 30, 2011 at 10:47 am

I like lavender but I also like lemongrass. I like it when a scent surprised me with a combination I’ve never thought of before.

  • 149 Melissa // May 30, 2011 at 10:47 am

I go for anything honey-based. Generally, I’m not into florals, but love violet. And coffee and chocolate notes are always welcome. Currently, though, I’m washing up with Grass by LUSH–a perfect spring scent!

  • 150 Nicole // May 30, 2011 at 10:48 am

Green and fresh. Can’t really abide florals too much.

  • 151 Jacqueline // May 30, 2011 at 10:49 am

    Green green green notes!

  • 152 S // May 30, 2011 at 10:59 am

I love the scent of jasmine.

  • 153 cheryl // May 30, 2011 at 11:01 am

I love nice soap. Use a olive oil block from the Mediterranean Market here in town, keeps your skin nice and soft, but no fragrance. Talked the husband into trying it for his dry skin, worked! My fragrance is lavender and then rose. Read your blog every day, thanks for being there.

  • 154 Christina // May 30, 2011 at 11:04 am

I’m a sucker for anything musk-y. Names like ‘rain’ or ‘lust’ usually smell good to me. lol But on the other hand, I am attracted to vanilla smelling things too and usually mix the two scents together. So… sweet and musky? heh

  • 155 Jamie G // May 30, 2011 at 11:08 am

    Almond almond almond forever!

  • 156 Theresa // May 30, 2011 at 11:13 am

I love the scent of shea butter!

  • 157 Rebekah // May 30, 2011 at 11:16 am

I always go for grapefruit first, then other citrus notes.

  • 158 Alison // May 30, 2011 at 11:18 am

I like unscented, honey, and citrus the most. Maybe mint, but sometimes its tingle on the skin can be too strong. Coffee is supposed to help remove onion and garlic odors from the hands, but I haven’t tried it yet.

  • 159 Sarah S // May 30, 2011 at 11:21 am

Def. jasmine/floral scents. i loooove it

  • 160 Amanda // May 30, 2011 at 11:23 am

I love notes of citrus. The smell of orange blossoms is my favorite. It reminds me of living in Texas in the spring!

  • 161 daisywheels // May 30, 2011 at 11:28 am

    spicy vanilla

  • 162 Kerry // May 30, 2011 at 11:31 am

I like citrus scents–it’s the best for waking up and feeling refreshed.

  • 163 Suzanne // May 30, 2011 at 11:33 am

I go for the florals, especially gardenia. It can be a little overpowering in perfume, but in soaps and candles… MMMMMMMM!! So good!

  • 164 NeCole // May 30, 2011 at 11:34 am

Florals, fruits and spices and any mix thereof

  • 165 christene // May 30, 2011 at 11:38 am

i love sandalwood the best, then the other woodsy scents, then lavender, but only real essential oil lavender. lavender scented stuff…not so much. i also love ginger and amber in the winter. these soaps all sound amazing and if i don’t win, (which i won’t because i never win stuff, ever!) i may have to buy some of that coconut oil sea salt soap, it sounds amazing!!

  • 166 Emma // May 30, 2011 at 11:38 am

I can never have too many soaps and other bath and body products! Love all smells! I go through the whole store and will literally smell every scent before I carefully choose one. Sometimes I play the ‘Guess this scent!’ game with my friends – kind of an excuse for me to smell everything without seeming like I’m abnormal.

  • 167 Delia // May 30, 2011 at 11:39 am

I like citrus and peppermint, although not together!

  • 168 Katie // May 30, 2011 at 11:40 am

I like fruity, but not really citrus – more like berries. I also love warm scents like vanilla but I find them too overpowering to actually wear.

  • 169 leisa // May 30, 2011 at 11:43 am

Always been partial towards lavender, myself.

  • 170 Shanley // May 30, 2011 at 11:45 am

i’ve often been accused of smelling like men’s aftershave :S
i love cedar, pine, sandalwood, musk, patchouli, lavender, amber, rosemary, jasmine, coconut – anything deep and outdoorsy — DEFINITELY not girly!

  • 176 Laurie Brown // May 30, 2011 at 11:53 am

There are so many fragrance notes I like in soaps; patchouli, labdanum, vanilla, spices- seems I like soaps that are base notes! And florals- honeysuckle, rose, magnolia. If there is green in there, like green tea or chypre, that’s a total bonus.

  • 177 Kat // May 30, 2011 at 11:53 am

I love anything that makes me smell like cake (my boyfriend says) – almond, vanilla, chocolate…

  • 178 Mia // May 30, 2011 at 11:53 am

I go for woody and warm scents….vanilla and sandalwood are my favorite.

  • 179 Carol // May 30, 2011 at 11:59 am

Love fruit and alcoholic drink scents! The alcoholic drink scent is a weird preference I realize, every time I’ve ever used a soap that smelled like “mojito” or “margarita” it just feels so invigorating – maybe because I don’t even drink very often!

  • 180 Alysia // May 30, 2011 at 12:06 pm

I tend to lean towards kitchen scents. I have a strange love of smelling like food.

  • 181 Susan // May 30, 2011 at 12:19 pm

I love the sweet ones! Product Body’s Raspberry Linzer Cookie is my absolute favourite!! Citrus would be my second choice, but I cannot abide floral scents.

  • 182 kimbly // May 30, 2011 at 12:23 pm

Amber, sandalwood, jasmine and patchouli – or anything “green” and clean smelling

  • 185 Safranit (Safra-knit) // May 30, 2011 at 12:31 pm

I like lavendar, jasmine and vanilla…I don’t really go for perfumes, but for general cleaning etc, those are the smells I like—and also mint.

  • 186 Molly // May 30, 2011 at 12:36 pm

Citrus & fruity smells for me. Rosemary is also delicious with citrus!

  • 187 iheartsalt // May 30, 2011 at 12:38 pm

Citrus is always a first, but Dr. Bronner’s citrus orange or almond are my regulars. Bar in the shower; liquid at the sinks…

I always like florals… especially orange blossom!

  • 189 ELISA // May 30, 2011 at 12:48 pm

  • 190 wendy // May 30, 2011 at 12:51 pm

it depends on the season, and my mood too…
i love lavender for spring and citrus for summer…

  • 195 hailey // May 30, 2011 at 1:05 pm

  • 200 lori // May 30, 2011 at 1:33 pm

I love lavender for laundry and lemon for dishes. I try not to use the same scents for laundry and dishes…don’t want to be thinking of clothing when working around food.

  • 201 Jess // May 30, 2011 at 1:36 pm

I always go fie earthy tones like oatmeal and coffee!

  • 202 Jamie Rose // May 30, 2011 at 1:44 pm

  • 215 Elsa // May 30, 2011 at 2:54 pm

  • 297 Dawn Spatta // May 31, 2011 at 5:18 am

I usually go for plain ole fragrance free for day to day but I love patchouli and other musks – lemon is nice – eucalyptus is nice – there’s just so many I hate to buy just one when I treat myself!

  • 298 Dusie // May 31, 2011 at 5:38 am

    Anything coconut!

  • 299 ~Heather // May 31, 2011 at 5:39 am

Coconut milk sounds delicious! Love citrus in the shower too.

  • 300 Janice F. // May 31, 2011 at 5:49 am

    Rose and floral!

  • 301 Jillian // May 31, 2011 at 5:57 am

Citrus is definitely the way to go!

  • 302 Melissa // May 31, 2011 at 6:04 am

I always find myself going for water based scents – ocean and rain more than others.

  • 303 Celine Blacow // May 31, 2011 at 6:07 am

I just adore citrus mixed with a deeper note, like patchouli – incredible, light yet dark, very sensual!

  • 304 Kelli // May 31, 2011 at 6:09 am

    I love citrus scents.

  • 305 Anna // May 31, 2011 at 6:18 am

i love mint, roses and oranges

  • 306 Jessica // May 31, 2011 at 6:22 am

I love citrus, but often pick up rose scented soaps. They smell like my grandma and her garden.

  • 307 Meg // May 31, 2011 at 6:22 am

I love floral and herb scents. Lavender, rosemary, rose…

  • 308 Tara // May 31, 2011 at 6:25 am

I love floral notes, especially tuberose and jasmine.

  • 309 Dana // May 31, 2011 at 6:33 am

    Vanilla or musks.

  • 310 Jody // May 31, 2011 at 6:35 am

Citrus or any clean smelling light scent.

  • 311 Laura // May 31, 2011 at 6:39 am

Citrusy scents are a favorite of mine as well. I also like herbal scents such as rosemary.

  • 312 ki // May 31, 2011 at 6:42 am

    I like ocean-ozone scents! :)

  • 313 latenac // May 31, 2011 at 6:51 am

I really love sandalwood in soap. But I also like mint and citrus b/c it seems more refreshing to me first thing in the morning. Sandalwood is for evening showers.

  • 314 Sarah // May 31, 2011 at 6:52 am

I love earthy scents like sandalwood and lavender!
p.s. Joanna is awesome! I’m a fan of her blog :)

  • 315 Brandi W // May 31, 2011 at 7:02 am

I like the smell of baby soap!

  • 316 Adrienne // May 31, 2011 at 7:05 am

Lavender, on its own or mixed with another scent. I shower at night so it’s nice to have something that relaxes me. Citrus or herbal (rosemary) are my other favorites

  • 317 Alyssa // May 31, 2011 at 7:42 am

I gravitate to sandalwood or vanilla scents. My body washes are usually kind of citrusy, but when I have a bar of soap, it’s like an indulgence for me and I want them to be warm and comforting. Dangit…now I want to go take a nice hot bath. :-)

  • 318 Kate // May 31, 2011 at 7:42 am

I like most fragrances of soap (fruity, clean/fresh, herbal), as long as I mix them up. I love switching to a new scent often because it’s like a burst of awesome for your nose, instead of being used to the same smell for a month or longer. Same applies to shampoos and conditioners and perfume.

  • 319 Emily M // May 31, 2011 at 7:43 am

Always on the hunt for wonderful homemade soaps. Loooove coconut! Sandalwood & almond are also personal faves.

  • 320 Ann // May 31, 2011 at 7:45 am

These soaps look heavenly. Please sign me up.

  • 321 jen // May 31, 2011 at 7:49 am

    citrus!

  • 322 mrscharlemagne // May 31, 2011 at 8:02 am

I *heart* lavender, and use it whenever possible =).

  • 323 Linda // May 31, 2011 at 8:11 am

I like orange vanilla. Also like amber, but that one is tough to pull off in a soap.

  • 324 Jenny K // May 31, 2011 at 8:16 am

I love the citrus scents, can’t do anything vanilla.

  • 325 CaRoLiNe // May 31, 2011 at 8:23 am

I love scents that smell like you can eat them! But I also love fruit & flower & spice mixes. Truly though, my body chemistry has given me little to work with. I find a scent I love, put it on and 1/2 hour later I smell like kitty peepee ;P So needless to say i’m always trying new things.

  • 326 molly // May 31, 2011 at 8:25 am

    I love grass and citrus

  • 327 Kathy // May 31, 2011 at 8:34 am

I love fresh rain smells, almond, lavender, or mint. Basically anything soothing!

  • 328 Karen // May 31, 2011 at 8:36 am

Citrus definitely, and anything very natural/fresh. Minty is nice. Food-related scents usually good unless overdone! Sadly floral scents give me an instant headache and smell like old ladies to me… Thanks for the chance to try this soap!

  • 329 Stephanie // May 31, 2011 at 8:38 am

Wow! Lots of comments! Thanks for the opportunity! I love lavender–it’s my favorite. Once I had a bar of a wonderful clove soap, but haven’t been able to find it again!

  • 330 Audris // May 31, 2011 at 8:41 am

I love sea/marine/beach scents (but no coconut), followed by fresh rain/clean cotton scents. Clean soap for me :D

  • 331 Steffy // May 31, 2011 at 8:42 am

I agree, I’m a citrus girl. I also like vanilla and lavender.

    I always go for sandalwood.

  • 337 Maryanne // May 31, 2011 at 9:15 am

I usually head for any fruity scent, though I particularly like citrusy scents for the kitchen. I am probably the only person on the planet, though, that thinks vanilla is too cloying. Love it in baking, but not on me.

  • 338 Sarah Anderson // May 31, 2011 at 9:16 am

    I love citrus!

  • 339 Annette // May 31, 2011 at 9:24 am

  • 340 Maureen // May 31, 2011 at 9:29 am

Eucalpytis (sp?) and citrus scents for me! Thanks, Maureen (jnomaxx at hotmail dot com)

  • 344 Michelle // May 31, 2011 at 9:47 am

I took a perfume course 6 weeks ago and ever since then I’m into clean scents like the smell of the ocean. The blends I make for others though are on the citrus/floral/woodsy side.

    These soaps look divine.

  • 381 Henny Penny // May 31, 2011 at 5:20 pm

When choosing any type of delicious smelling soap I have a hard time passing up mint. Not only is it cooling to the skin, it wakes me up in the morning as I groggily lather, rinse, and repeat.
