What’s going on here? My site started ten years ago this month and to celebrate I’m giving away something each weekday. Because I like you.
Today’s giveaway is from Joy the Baker, it’s a bunch of stuff she likes and thinks you might like too. When I asked her originally I thought her book (she’s gonna have a book coming out!) would be a great thing to giveaway, but it turns out the book is still a long ways off. But, being sweet as she is, she jumped in a offered to get together some good things, because she’s nice like that. She also hinted that there would be a few additional surprises included.
If you’d like to win the care package from Joy please leave a comment with this post, you have until 10 a.m. on Friday, May 20th to enter, the fine print applies. If you’d like something to mention please tell us: Do you have a favorite kitchen gadget? I have recently been introduced to the new style of can openers that don’t leave a sharp edge and refuse to look back (I am clumsy in the kitchen). Ok, good luck everybody! Closed! Thanks so much for entering.

The apple slicer has always been my favorite kitchen gadget. I hate slicing fruit by hand :)

I love my immersion blender, that thing comes in handy unexpectedly often. I used it this morning to make my coffee frothy. :)

My favorite gadget is my wooden pizza slip. I got it at a random $1 store years ago, and have never seen another like it. I use it for pizza, of course, but also for reaching way back in the oven without having to move racks around.

Congrats! My favorite item definitely varies by season/mood, but for now it is definitely my melon baller (*ballah*). Why is it so much fun to try to get that perfectly round ball each time? The inventor of that tool=genius!

I love my chef’s knife (even though it needs sharpened) and my hand citrus juicer. No more squeezing limes!

Well it’s not really a *gadget* but I love my vintage sugar, flour, coffee and tea canisters that I picked up on a lucky Salvation Army run. They’re pretty enough to leave out and so convenient to have on the counter!

I cannot live without my zester. I use it for citrus, ginger, cheese, garlic, chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg , and so many other things.

I am nothing without my microplane.
These giveaways are becoming the highlight of my morning!

A huge fan of corn on the cob in the summer – a “corn butterer” (like my oh-so-fancy name for it!)

My fave kitchen gadget is my boyfriends arch nemesis. It’s an antique garlic press from my great-grandma. It’s one of the few things I have of hers, and I treasure it greatly!
For the most useful, I love my heavy duty kitchen knife and cutting board my dad made out of a fallen maple.

Favorite? Garlic press cuz I don’t have a food processor, microplane or immersion blender!! Just printed Joy’s Green Goddess Dressing recipe.

I definitely am an advocate for the microplane. But I love LOVE my wooden spoons!

I am in love with my risotto spoon…!

I love my hand mixer. I’ve made so many tasty sauces, pestos, milk shakes, smoothies and ice cream since I got it.

Lately I have been reaching a lot for my new slotted wooden spoon. But I also use my in-the-pot egg timer a lot. A unitasker gadget for sure, but it has helped me boil proper eggs. :)

I love my flat whisk that will go into the corners of my pot!

my fave kitchen appliance is my son. he’s very helpful about making a mess on the floor (he’s one), so that i don’t feel so bad about the mess i’ve made on the counters.
p.s. sorry about the lack of capitilization. said one year old broke both shift keys.

I just love my little hand juicers for oranges, lemons and limes. They are great for cocktails.

We’re big on the old-fashioned wooden spoons in this house!

I have been baking a lot lately and I love my small dough/ice cream scoop. Perfect.
Thanks!

Oh! I love Joy the Baker! How generous of her! Like someone else said – I love anything and everything within the four walls of my kitchen. Well, I’m not too touchy-feely with my trash bin, but you know what I mean! Can’t wait for her book to come out…
25 Kathy // May 20, 2011 at 8:27 am
My heart melts for a good whisk but I also have a deep love for the microplane. I even have one that makes little ginger bread men shapes out of chocolate or cheese ;)
26 AES // May 20, 2011 at 9:17 am
I’m endlessly fascinated by my microplane. It’s a little embarrassing.
27 herschel // May 20, 2011 at 9:43 am
JAR OPENER!
28 Nana // May 20, 2011 at 9:44 am
Yep, the can opener…Mine was from some home party and I’ve loved it ever since.

The mandoline. My kids never turn down thinly sliced fruit and homemade potato chips…

I love my milk frother! Kinda random but that thing mixes pudding like a champ and works like a mini hand mixer.

My cookie scooper! But I’m pretty obsessed with my cuisinart immersion blender I recently purchased!

My favorite gadget is my kitchen scale.
