The information on creating print-ready images is pretty handy. I have a design project I’d like to get back to the requestor tonight!

On the print-ready images thing…I’ve used almost all of those techniques at one time or another, and the thing I’ve found it that if you start with something small (say, from the web) and making it larger, sometimes there’s just not enough information for photoshop to make a decent larger version.

I’ve used the 110% upsize thing in photoshop for years, but I’m usually starting with an 8×10 300dpi photo that I need to put on a giant banner (and that works quite well).

However, this is one of the only other places I’ve seen the 110% upsize thing mentioned (I read about it in a book). Very valuable thread to find!

Too bad there is no discussion of contacting the photographer (or firm) who owns the copyright for the image in order to legally and ethically obtain a higher-res file or print instead of a how do I improve this file that I’ve stolen discussion.
