The finished basement question makes me both want to redo our basement and to fear the process! Based on their recommendations we would definitely need to drop the floor or it would be just over 5’8″ high. You can guess how I know the height.

I just saw a portable fireplace advertised last night on one of the shopping channels and I thought I might have to redesign my living room to accomodate that.

Seanna Lea – One of the reasons we bought our house was because of the finished basement, but I wish we had a record of where the pipes/electric lines are. The finished walls are great but we screwed into a pipe while hanging curtains earlier this summer! Never would have guessed a pipe would run that close to the edge of a window.
Amy – I’m definitely looking at these since we don’t have a fireplace. I’ll report back if we decide on one.

we have a magnetic door stop jut like that on our bedroom door. the other doors in the house mostly stay put but his one leans just so that it wants to close. we got ours at the local big box home reno store.
