I was also screaming in terror at some of the drinks in the "harmful beverages in america" article! Thanks for the link Megan, I posted it on my blog too. Also, I agree with Jen, it seems like the alternative suggestions for all of the bad drinks aren't that much better. Just the same artificial, processed junk. How about just drinking plain old water?

I'm wondering how many of the suggested drink alternatives contain artificial sweeteners. Also, it makes me scratch my head that the product name moolatte wasn't killed before the product ever rolled out for sounding like mulatto.

There's a tequila called "Chimayo" that you can find in some Washington liquor stores. That's my favorite cheap liquor find.

It's not super cheap at around $20/bottle, but it is at least as good as many more expensive brands.

Chai = Tea in Hindi. So "Chai Tea" is "Tea Tea" which doesn't make sense...

A way to get booze for cheaper:

1. Make a friend currently in the military near you.
2. Have them buy your booze from the class six.
3. Heap drunken rewards!

Booze is much cheaper on post (From what I remember)

I've just tried the "Waffle of Insane Greatness" recipe and it's near perfection. I've been hunting for good waffle recipes since I bought my waffle iron last year, and this is easily the best one I've tried so far. The waffles were crisp and light (without having to do the folding in egg whites thing... I'm guessing that's due to the corn starch?), browned to a nice golden colour, and had a nice flavour and texture. This is now my new go to recipe. The only modifications I'll make will be to lower the amount of salt to a quarter teaspoon, and experiment with using whole wheat flour (so I can pretend that they're good for me). They'll be good for throwing in some blueberries or chocolate chips, too. Thanks for this link!

I'm intrigued by the yeasted waffle, mostly because I like the idea of making them the night before and having little work to do in the morning to make them. So I'll be trying that one, too.

I'm not a member of MetaFilter so I can't post there, but thought you might be interested to know that the label on the bottle of alcohol in the Indiana Jones movie is fake and means nothing. Someone took a bunch of arabic letters and mixed them together. It doesn't even follow the rules of how the letters are supposed to be written.

The World of Mysteries info, while awesome and fascinating and which I posted to my own blog after reading it here, turns out to be lifted directly (and without attribution) from Eat This Not That.
