Cheap, Money-Saving Winterizing Moves Worth the Hassle – Winterize – Lifehacker. Including my DIY door draft stopper, thanks! I do love the bubble wrap over windows idea, we have sheer curtains over most of our windows anyhow so the visuals would work out. We’d still be able to open them, something I’m wary of with the heat shrink window proofing film.

I like a lot of these winterizing ideas. I am planning on making draft blockers for the front and back door, but other than that will have to look into insulation. I don’t think the previous owners ever fully insulated their place.

Yikes. We have double glazed windows and fairly new everything and yet our house is surprisingly chilly in the winter.

    Hi Megan

I just put in double-paned windows and really notice the lack-of-draft difference. I am now installing a programmable thermostat and programmable switch for the front porch light.

I am a big fan of your site and wanted to show you a site that just launched today. http://www.carboncontest.com They teach you how going green saves you money.
