giveaway: Shutterfly photo book

Shutterfly wants to give you a free 8 x 11 photo book! You can enter by leaving a comment with this entry, if you’d like something to mention tell me what you’d make a photo book of (not necessary if you don’t have something in mind, no worries). The Fine Print applies, I’ll be picking the winner at 12 noon PST on Thursday, September 24th so you only have two days to enter. added: Note: you will have to pay for shipping.

Shutterfly photo book pages

Why the hurry? The code for the photo book ends on September 30th. But don’t worry, Shutterfly gave me a code to use myself and I assembled a photo book of us getting hitched in Vegas for my mom. The book took one evening to assemble and, I’ll echo Mighty Girl here, the largest chunk of that time was deciding which photographs to use.

Shutterfly photo book pages

Assembling the book was easier than I expected, and there is one feature I highly recommend — the Storyboard feature allows you to load photos onto pages (one here, three there, etc). Then you hit go and it automatically comes up with the best way to display those images on each page (you can change the layout on individual pages later if you’d like). People, this saved me so much time, I was very happy.

Ooh! I was just thinking that I want to do a book like that for my parents of recipes that I’ve made and photographed. It’s to go along with the cast iron dutch oven I’m going to give them for Christmas.

  • 2 Liz // Sep 22, 2009 at 5:49 am

I would love to be considered for this! It would be a wonderful gift for my granny, who is having some health problems right now and could use a pick-me-up.
    Thanks for the giveaway, Megan!

Oh fun! I would love to fill it with pictures of my kids and give it to my mom when I leave for Texas.

  • 5 Jess // Sep 22, 2009 at 5:53 am

I’d probably make it of photos from the past year, since I just finished an amazing internship and I want to show my friends from New York what I’ve been up to.

  • 6 Beth // Sep 22, 2009 at 5:58 am

I would put one together of my semester abroad (2 years ago), i’m not a big scrapbooker, so this would be perfect!

We recently reconciled with my husband’s mother, who did not get to see my girls growing up, so I would love to make her a photo book of their early years…

Please enter me in this contest! Even though it’s been a few years, I would probably put some wedding photos together, as I’ve never assembled them in an album (we didn’t use a pro photographer).

Either that, or I’d put together photos of our cats!

  • 25 Alyson // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:25 am

I love Shutterfly photobooks and I have TONS of digital pictures that need to get out of the ether and into a physical object – this would totally move that process along.

  • 26 Alison // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:25 am

I’d probably scan old family photos, but I’m not sure I could do it on that deadline… I’d think of something!

  • 27 Anne Marie // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:36 am

I would like to make a photo book for my parents for Christmas this year because this summer, in their first trip west, they went to Arizona. They took a bajillion pictures, and it would be great to organize them in one handy, organized place.

  • 28 bella // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:36 am

    Cool ! I’m in.

  • 29 Leta // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:36 am

  • 35 Karen // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:43 am

We (and be “we” I mean “me” – lol) used Shutterfly to make a photobook of our elopement to Vegas in January that we had at our reception back in NY – it was a huge hit and really easy to do. I need to make another one of all the pictures from the reception, so that would be pretty great to be able to do it for free :)

  • 36 Heather // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:44 am

I’d like to try that automatic sorting/layout feature. Your book looks great!

  • 37 Amy // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:44 am

Oh I’d make baby albums. We stopped printing when my first was 1 and now we’ve got another one and the thought of printing out 4 years of pictures to place in an album is daunting to say the least. We could make one for us and one for the girls themselves to keep!

  • 38 Diana Lee // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:45 am

I would probably make an album of pictures from my wedding or an early Christmas gift for someone, such as my mom.

  • 39 Julie // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:47 am

My first thought was I would make a book of our many, many trips to Disneyworld. But after reading the comments, I think I would a heritage type book with old photos of my grandparents and great grandparents.

  • 40 Ailsa Tessier // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:47 am

Thanks for the nice opportunity! I’d make an album of my hometown to give to an old friend who’s moved away. I would also make another book of the same for an elderly friend of my mom’s, who always wondered what her old buddy’s hometown looked like.

  • 41 cat // Sep 22, 2009 at 6:47 am

Or to get some pics together for my sister, who has never met one of my sons…but we did hang with her kids this summer, so it would be a book filled with her kids and my kids :-).

  • 82 Dana // Sep 22, 2009 at 7:56 am

Love love love!! I would make a gift for my son, who is moving out of state after his wedding in two months. With pictures of their time here with us together, of preparing for the wedding, of all the love I have for him and them. And a book is such a good fit…as this is a new chapter for them and me too. I never knew him leaving home was going to feel quite like this..happiness that I raised an adorable little boy into this amazing man, joy that she is wonderful for him, and the part that’s not so easy…the still sadness that that page with him is now turning. My sweet boy.

  • 162 Lorraine // Sep 22, 2009 at 11:31 am

I have two young nephews and as the family photographer I go to great lengths to capture their activities and personalities. For the older boy’s third birthday, I put together a beautiful Shutterfly book titled, “What I Could Do When I Was Two.” In storybook fashoin, it captured the many events, both significant and everyday, the milestones (such as learning to climb stairs alone), his friends, etc.
Now that his brother is reaching that age, I’d love to do the same thing for him!
