upcoming Seattle small business stuff

There are three upcoming events you might be interested in if you have or want to start a small business and just happen to live in Seattle:

Grassroots Business Association Meetup – Blogging for Small Business
Wednesday, March 18th, 7 p.m. at Vermillion

The next meetup for the Grassroots Business Association will feature Kristen Rask and myself talking about blogging for small business. We’ll be focusing on the basics for somebody who has not kept a blog before, free tools, basic etiquette and ways to draw traffic.

The Lab at Velocity – Creative Business Growth
Thursday, March 19th, 6 p.m. inside of Velocity

Creative Business Growth: A Workshop With Local Experts will feature Grassroots’ own Andrea Porter and Kristen Rask along with other speakers.

Crave Business Shop Symposium
Monday, March 23rd

Kristen Rask, Andrea Porter and myself will be representing the Grassroots Business Association at the lunchtime event. Jessie from Cakespy will also be among the speakers.

    Hi,

I am wondering if you could send notes from the Blogging for Small Business Meetup / will they be available online? I am from Seattle but am living in Montevideo, Uruguay, so I won’t be able to make it.

    Thanks,
    CMD

Christina – I will, in fact I hope to have the notes up by the end of today.

Christina – The notes can be found here. I’ll be updating them later, I’ll be putting in all the links that are only typed out right now since I took it right from the text document.

Dinah – It was good to see you again. I’ve added this link to the bottom of the blogging notes over at the Grassroots site, but I’d like to point it out for you in particular. Matthew Haughey (Metafilter, PVR Blog) gave a talk at a Biznik event here in Seattle last summer called “Authentic Communication with your Customers” and it goes a little deeper and outside of the bullet points we heard a lot about last night. You can see the video of his whole talk here and I can recommend taking the time to watch it.
