I've had no trouble seeing the image in LCD on my TZ4 while outside. Also, my husband stumbled on a feature that I have not refound yet (will have to consult the owners manual) where you can adjust the LCD image depending on light levels and angle you're holding the camera relative your eyes.

I purchased the Lumix and while I think it takes good pictures and it has a ton of nifty features, it has one caveat: you can't see your subject matter when you take the picture outside! I bought the camera for a week long trip to Hawaii and most of the photos I took blind, which I found incredibly frustrating. The surface of the screen is like a mirror and if there's a lot of sun outside, all you can see is your face in display. You can buy a a plastic visor type thing but according to the gal that had it affixed to her Lumix, she said it didn't help that much.

Just my 2 cents...

I have the TZ3 too. I agonized over buying it for quite awhile, mostly because of the size. It really is a bit big and heavy, but I think it does take good pictures. I like the zoom, the stabilization and the options for different pre-set modes. The auto ISO is my favorite. I have been frustrated with the focus at times. It is picky. Also, the flash is crazy bright, I use it rarely. I think eventually I will get a DSLR, which is another reason I agonized over buying the TZ3. Why pay $300 (at the time), when I could save that towards the DSLR? I think it was a good choice for the interim though. From everything I read, it's the most bang for your buck of any point and shoot for sure.

my friend got the TZ3 last year, and I recently got the TZ4 on his recommendation (I wanted the TZ5 which comes in blue, but with the sale I found on the 4, I couldn't justify the difference.)

My first camera from 2002 recently broke, and I'd always wanted more zoom. I love the crazy lens on the little camera.

I have the Panasonic Lumix and I absolutely love it! It caputures some really fantastic pictures! I haven't learned how to use all the functions completely but I would totally recommend it! My only issues are its size since I like to carry my camera with me everywhere(not that its huge but I used to have a tiny powershot) but the zoom makes up for that quickly! And careful with the screen, not that it scratches very easy but if you aren't careful it will. But all in all I love love love it!
