buying:
bargain sunglasses from Target
After the tragic loss of my favorite sunglasses last week I went hunting for more. These ones from Target are big sunglasses that give me the combination of glare reduction and peripheral vision I like, and they’re $6 or $7 so I won’t weep when I, inevitably, lose them. These were more comfortable than the branded sunglasses I found on nearby racks, and at this price they are perfect for being the extra pair stashed in the car or desk at the office.

eating:
Revels chocolates
Some dear friends in the UK brought these for us. The chocolates inside all have different flavors in the center and apparantly everybody has at least one flavor they don’t like, which of course makes you keep eaing them. Like Bertie Bott’s but chocolate and witout the fear of finding a vomit flavored one. H2G2 calls them chocolate roulette.

liking:
Cover Girl Lash Exact Mascara
This formula doesn’t run on me, and the smaller brush means I don’t smudge it around my eyes when trying to apply it pre-coffee (I’m looking at you, Lash Blast and Bad Gal). It’s a very good daytime mascara, and a second coat is dramatic enough for the evening too.

drinking:
Maritime Pacific Brewing Company Imperial Pale Ale
A really good citrusy, hoppy beer. I hope I can find this one in bottles. Their Jolly Roger Taproom in Ballard has a giant pirate map painted on the floor, it’s pretty darn cool.

disliking:
Tic Tac Bold Mint
Truly horrible, tastes like mouthwash.

These are my favorite posts- it’s so funny how concentrating on certain aspects of life can automatically make it seem so much more glamorous.

Maritime! Their beer is one of the top three things I miss about Seattle. Everything they brew, from the IPA to the Bosun’s Black, just hits me the right way.

Thanks eM! It’s years and years of sunscreen.

You have to be careful when buying cheapy sunglasses. They don’t always block all the UV rays. Plus the dark lens make your pupils dilate, so if all the rays aren’t blocked, you can end up letting more UV rays into your eye.

Thanks for the warning Laura. These are going to be my back up pair for driving — I lost my last pair at a store and had to drive home sunglassless on a very glare-y afternoon. I’ll keep looking to find a pair to protect my eyes.

In case you ever want to try it, my favorite mascara EVER is faux cils by YSL.

    and

I buy the same pair of loverly large, dark, and cheap sunglasses at Red Light every year. 8.95 works for me!

I bought some cheapo Target sunglasses (5 bucks!) a year ago, and they WILL NOT BREAK. No matter what I do to them. I once shut them in the door of a car and they still came out unmarred. Amazing.

So do tell what you use on your skin to make it so lovely!! (please!)

I LOVE Revels, I think it’s because I like surprise treats, but because I am so vigilent, it’s almost impossible to plan things without me knowing. Eating sweets is so much more exciting when you don’t know what you’re going to get!

I soooo agree with you on the TicTac Bolds — blehhh!!!

Tamara – Partly it’s just a lifetime of sunscreen, I’m pale and burn easily but never tan. That evening I was wearing the Philosohpy The Supernatural and Mac Blot Powder.

Believe me, once you get up close my skin isn’t that great. Maybe the lighting in Velocity is really good? :)

I tried the TicTac Bold Fruit and it was YUCK (to my tastes at least)

I converted to covergirl mascara a year ago (with the new plastic brushes) and have been very happy. I bought the mascara that Drew Barrymore advertises for Cover Girl and I am not as happy with the mascara brush. Too big and hard to use.

    Love that mascara!
