I never understand why the retailer stores keep taking out of the market the good products and merchandise. The best and only jeans I ever felt so confortable at the same time that looks good on me were the essential fit GAP jeans. Please do something. Where ever you go the jeans are now design only for very skinny people.

while nothing compares to the essential jean–and both my pairs are wearing out–i will say that old navy’s “dreamer” jeans make a butt look good without the gap in the back.
has gap said anything about a comeback?

Oh my gosh! It’s so nice to see that I’m not the only one that was super sad and disappointed when Gap discontinued the essential jeans line. I was told that I was being dramatic and picky, but let’s face it, It’s not easy finding jeans that fit well and look good. I’m back into going into every store that I can think of and trying every pair of jean. I’m officially back into the dreading mode when it come to buying jeans. I hope they bring them back! In the mid time if anyone finds jeans that fit like the essentials did please share!

Has anyone found jeans with a similar fit?? My pair of Gap Essential jeans are wearingout and I have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement pair. I have tried Old Navy, Banana Republic, Lands End, Lee Cold Water Creek – no luck, nothing comes close to fitting the way my Gap essential do.

How do we petition the Gap to bring these jeans back?? I agree, the only jean I felt great wearing. Why is this style of jeans so difficult to find. My only pair just ripped in the knee – I need another pair!!!

I completely agree with all these comments. If something is not broken, DON’T FIX IT or stop making it! I could understand if NO ONE was buying them, but obviously that’s not the case. The Essentials were the GREATEST jean I’ve ever, ever, ever bought. I too had given up on jeans until I found them. Gap doesn’t make jean that isn’t low rise and straight at the bottom. I always told others about how great of a jean they were and suggested my friends and family to try them when they were frustrated and annoyed in looking for jeans.

What is wrong with the powers to be at the GAP??? Finally a style of jeans that FIT the everyday woman!!!!! I am 53 yrs old and these are the first style of jeans that fit just the way I like them to. All the other styles are cut for the young and Twiggy like bodies. I am not over weight and I do not like to show off my A…. every time I have to bend down to pick something up. The superpowers at the GAP had it all in these jeans and as it goes in today’s world poof they are gone!!!! Bring them back..bring them back right now please!!!!!!!!

I also love these jeans and am extremely disappointed that Gap has stopped carrying them. I was really upset when I went into the store a few weeks ago and found out they redesigned all their jeans. I also tried on EVERY SINGLE STYLE and none of them fit right or as perfect as the Essential. I am now forced to buy used on ebay. Please bring them back, Gap!

I am 6ft tall and I used to wear the original Long and Lean style. Then they redesigned the cut and they are currently in the stores and do not fit in the thighs. Essentials came out at that time and they were perfect. I just went for a new pair last week and found out that they are gone. Heartbroken again, I will play the waiting game and hope that they will make something to fit their ageing followers. Good Luck everyone.

I was in the GAP today and AGAIN asked if there were any cuts comparable to the Essentials…and again the answer was No. BUT the sales girl told me the GAP is still carrying these jeans in the Canadian stores ( I happen to have a friend who goes back to Canada to visit) and I’m tempted to have her buy me some. This is how much I love these jeans! Bring them back!!

I’d pretty much given up on Gap until I encountered Essential jeans a couple of years ago. I was shocked to pull on something that actually fit! And now, of course, I wish now that I had stocked up… Sigh.

OMG I can’t believe they discontinued these Jeans. WTF is wrong with these people. These are the only jeans I wear. Jeans for regular people not skinny hipsters. Not too low or too high. No ass crack. Please bring them back. I am so upset. When I saw the ad for the “New Gap Jeans” line I knew instantly these would no longer be available. I was heartbroken.

i, too, absolutely love these jeans and the way they fit. i even bought an extra pair just in case they didn’t keep them around very long. then i got pregnant, and i just had the baby, and now i need some jeans in a bigger size and am SO SAD that i can’t get these anymore. let’s please please please get gap to start making them again!

I just bought a pair today at a Gap Outlet in Milpitas, CA. After trying on many pairs of jeans that just didn’t feel or fit right. Usually the thigh area is too tight and the waist band is too big. These fit right as soon as I put them on. These were boot cut and I bought the “ankle” length. Being 5’2″ they are going to be just right – won’t need to hem! Paid $39.99.

I just find out today about essential jeans from GAP, I’m very upset, I tried like 15 diferent types of jeans and none fit well, all were to tight from the thigh and make me look huge from the hip, and what about the pencil legs?? I’m not fat but not skynny either I look like a cone with this stuped jean why the stores think we all can use these type of jean they are everywhere. I spend 4 hrs looking for jeans and I bought nothing, I really hope GAP bring back the essential fit again.

But I own the Essential jeans in a 0 regular and the rise was too long, they never seemed to have them in store in a 0 petite, if I knew what rise I wanted… Anyways maybe the link will help some people. I should note that I have never purchased from the above website and know nothing about there quality.

I was at the Gap yesterday and tried on all of the jeans they carry. None of them fit right, or looked good. The Essential jeans were perfect because they’re comfortable and flattering with the straight, not the fake “straight” leg that The Gap is selling now. And straight-leg jeans are more flattering than boot cut jeans for many of us because they don’t get tight at the knee and then flare back out.

I’m not fat, but I suppose being in my 50s, I’m not in a demographic that The Gap cares about anyway.

However, there is one interesting thing about that. Years ago I used to shop at The Gap and then it seemed like nothing fit so I stopped. Well it seems that by the early 2000′s, their sales were down more than a third, and The Gap decided that maybe people over 30 buy jeans too, and they had changed their strategy to market more broadly.

And I did notice a couple of years ago that I could shop there again.

This year pencil legs are in, and it will be a struggle to find jeans. I was exhausted after I left the Gap, but I stopped in Chico’s where I never find jeans I like because I’m 5 ft 4 in. and don’t like the full rise which comes to just under my boobs. Anyway, I just wanted to ask if they happened to start carrying mid rise jeans, which the Essentials are, and straight leg jeans. She said yes, that they had revamped their jeans, but in fact those jeans come in at the ankle too. They are NOT straight-leg jeans.

I cannot find the Essential jeans online. The salesperson at The Gap said I could try The Gap Outlet, but I don’t see any Essential jeans.

Let’s face, finding a pair of jeans this year is going to be a nightmare. I bought an old house and worked in my yard all summer with the ones I have, and they are faded. I need to get some that are a little darker.

I tried DKNY, but those don’t fit right.

I love mid rise jeans. I even tried The Gap low-rise boot-cut jeans. Well, that’s a nightmare.

Oh well. I guess I’ll complain somewhere too about no Essential jeans.

The Gap Essential Jeans are THE BEST (especially for us short, curvy girls!). I was so bummed when I read they were being discontinued, but when I called Gap Customer Service today, the sales representative said he didn’t think they were being discontinued and that they have had a ton of calls of people looking for them! Today, there were on sale and had very limited sizes (so maybe that is a sign they’re on their way out) but, maybe if we all call in Gap will keep them around! Worth a try!

i just bought two pairs of these at a gap outlet store!!! tried on about 15 different pairs before i slid into these. they’re wonderful. they aren’t too low and they don’t look like mom jeans, just classic and stylish. i’m 26, no kids, and i love them. they were $30 at the outlet.

I think the best part about these jeans is that I am able to wear a size smaller in them than I usually wear. I know that it’s not just me because my sister-in-law wears a size smaller in them too!!! They truly are the perfect jean.

I’m always looking out for great new jeans, especially ones that fit short girls well. Truejeans.com has been awesome for this. I was skeptical at first, but I ordered a pair of It! jeans and they fit perfectly! (Well, after hemming.) Most of the jeans they have for women are pretty pricey, but I’ve found they are spot-on for sizing.

OMG–I am wearing those jeans right now! I too am a big fan. Found them last year and have been asked quite often who makes them. And for the long-legged in the bunch, you can get them long so you’re not wearing floods. I also like tht there is no stitching on the back pockets–I’m having designer jean overload these days…
