L.L. Bean Weather Challenger Jacket
A friend of mine has this jacket and gives it high marks, and I love that it comes in a gray/black combination, so many jackets for women only come in sherbet colors.
waxing:
my eyebrows
I had my eyebrows shaped for the first time. I went to the Wax Bar here in Seattle and it was a good experience. Also, they can serve alcohol, so if you're feeling nervous this is a nice place to be.
loving:
Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton yarn
This is lovely and soft and comes in colors fit for grown ups. I was lucky enough to get this at a recent 50% off yarn sale, and I think it was worth battling the crowds.
eating:
Manischewitz barley shape egg noodles
When thrown into soup they are like teeny tiny dumplings.
playing:
Dwarf Complete
This is a fun puzzle game created by On of Eyemaze. It was commissioned by the onine RPG game Lineage II, but you don't have to be into that to enjoy this game. If you get stuck you can find help at JIG Casual Gameplay. This was a good distraction for a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Love the whole wax bar idea, though I had my eyebrows threaded when I was in NY a few months back and found this the ideal method. None of those little "bumbs" I tend to get after waxing. And a drink would have helped immensely.

I have to tell you I moved from San Francisco to Minneapolis & that coat has been my lifesaver when its 40 below! I also was thrilled to see the color combination rather than some pastel or neon.

sounds like you made it to the "fire sale" at Hilltop! I am jealous -- I wasn't able to go.... was it as crazy as it promised to be?

andrea - Yes. Before the doors opened the line stretched down the block towards Tully's and wrapped around the corner. It was so crowded inside it was very difficult to move around. Some poor people stuck inside were really angry, and it was unfortunate that there was no limit put on how many people could be inside at one point. Mmm, why aren't there more games like this? Combat is so dull by comparison.

Be aware that that Blue Sky Dyed Cotton is going to shed like a mofo. I've found that my sweater has settled down after a few wearings, but it was kind of an alarming knitting experience--"is this yarn going to disintegrate right in my hands?"

Ashley - Thanks for the warning. I kind of expected it to and I'm a wee bit afraid that I won't want to wear the sweater I make with it since I mostly wear black!

Having recently relocated from Massachusetts to Central Coast CA, I am hopeful to never see another LL Bean product again! As a friend of mine said once, "I dress in LL Bean, kind of dowdy and down Maine". Of course, I do love lot's of LL Bean's stuff....I think she was thinking more of moose sweaters and elastic waist pants.
I just am loving t-shirts, shorts and my Teva's right now!

Threading is definitely the way to go. I'm sure there are places in Seattle you can find. It's a much cleaner line, and the technique is thousands of years old.

You are Brilliant! I have been searching for a good jacket like that but not necessarily in "girl" colors (I would rather have neutrals to go with everything). Thanks for posting about it!
Wondering about the brow bar. I live in Spokane, wonder if its worth the trip next time I visit Seattle. I have big thick and bushy Brooke Shields eyebrows... wonder what they could do to shape those (always thought they were hopeless).

Angela - I have very fine and wimpy brows, so they seem to have taken to waxing nicely. While the reviews at Yelp for the Wax Bar are great, I would suggest looking into threading for you. Yelp has listings for spas in Spokane, hopefully somebody will have a positive review of one.
But, if you do plan a trip to Seattle to visit the Wax Bar let me know and I'll give you recommendations for nearby places to shop or eat!

The Hilltop Fire Sale! Ugh, I wish I wasn't in Illinois for college. My friend works there, I should have had her snag something.

Femmme - I have nothing to add really, just that they struck me more as little dumplings than little noodles.
Karin - I don't know. Their website certainly doesn't say you cannot. Also, the alcohol wasn't in sight, the person at the front desk simply asked if I would like to have something.

I played Dwarf Complete a couple of rainy west-coast weekends ago. It's super fun!

I currently pluck mine. Does one not groom them for awhile before going in to have them done?

McAuliflower - I'm not certain if you need to let the hairs grow a bit before going in. I know a friend had let hers grow a bit when she wanted to have them re-shaped.
For what it's worth: I wasn't expecting them to wax along the top of my eyebrows as well as underneath. I do like the final look, though. Afterwards the skin around mine was red for about a day, I'm not sure if it's because it was the first time or if I'm particularly sensitive. I was glad I didn't have any plans for that evening.
I'm happy and I plan to keep having them done.

If you have sensitive skin, try finding someone in your area who does eyebrow threading. Less painful than waxing, and no redness!

Re: Brows - I go to Susan's Nails in Bellevue, across from Crossroads mall. The gal who does them is FAST, always does a good job, and it is $10. Also, there is a nail salon on California, north of the Thriftway a bit in West Seattle that does a good job, too.

Totally have that LL Bean jacket and love it -- got it for Christmas two years ago. The black/grey combo is what sold me too :o)
