I have been mourning the passing of those appliances I grew up with, including Mom's old iron, complete with fabric-covered cord. Thanks for the link!

I just did the star thing. The one cut is a little difficult for leftys. But i let out an audible "YAY!" in my cubicle when the star came out perfect!

I wonder if you can reverse the cut so it's easier for left handed cutting. I will have a galaxy all over my desk by closing time.

I remember looking with interest at the Big City Knits book a while back. The reviews on Amazon are pretty spread out, but the biggest complaint is that the sizes only cover up to a 33-inch bust in many of the patterns. Not gonna work for me. I have big boobies.

if you like twinkle you might also like fitted knits.

http://www.amazon.com/Fitted-Knits-Designs-Fashionable-Knitter/dp/1581808720

or heartfelt:

http://www.kimhargreaves.co.uk/acatalog/HEARTFELT_The_Dark_House_Collection.html

personally, big knits means everyone ends up looking bulky. but that might just be me and my skinny ass.

it's always a good idea to check ravelry and see how the patterns in those books turned out with real people. just my 2 pennies.

The Salvation Army is great to pick up your stuff, but be aware (if you live in Texas, at least): they won't take couches or chairs that look worn out, or have ANY holes or tears. They're very strict about that. If you live in an apartment or condo that's not on a ground floor, they won't take boxes over 25 pounds.
