[...] It was a typical February afternoon in Seattle. Cold, windy and rainy. Blah. The day was progressing like any other and it was lunch time. I had just arrived back to my desk, waiting patiently for my piping hot (yet still frozen in the center) Cedarlane vegetable enchiladas to cool off. As I do just about every work day, I fired up the first of several of my favorite blogs while I started to dig into my lunch:NotMartha.org. The daily post consisted of a collection of a bunch of links to interesting stuff of or related to my favorite subject: food. Yay! [...]

Thank you for linking to the dulce de leche cheesecake squares - I saw them and had to make them for a baby shower I hosted this weekend. I left out the chocolate glaze, but they were still so delicious, plus having such small pieces rather than a whole cheesecake slice was great. New mother, guests and my husband thank you for your link!

European butter, yes, especially for homemade croissants. I'm gearing up to make a couple of batches of almond ones with both Plugra and Lurpak to compare and then gifting them to my neighbors for Valentines day.
Even better for just spreading on stuff is cultured butter. It's like the crack of butters.

Jen - They are for forming cream horns, and gosh, the Amazon description doesn't mention their use. I put the link here for me to find later since I was surprised to find a sort of obscure pastry item on a not-obscure website.

uh... what are the lady lock forms for? are they cake decorating piping tips? they sound awfully large for that.

I also grew up pouring fat right down the drain, though if there's a lot, I dilute with soapy water first. however, now that I've moved in with my husband, he won't let me do that. he's always drained into a container and thrown it out, but we live on the second floor and we've had back ups from what our upstream neighbours have allowed to go down the pipes.

I got a UtiliTea kettles this last Christmas. It's as good as described on the site. The only thing is the temp turn knob is a little loose. Otherwise, it pours beautifully and I refill it with filtered water from a Nalgene (to keep the base dry). Heats water incredibly fast.
