using:
KitchenAid 750 food processor
This is the model that was recommended by Cook’s Illustrated magazine. This photo was taken shortly before I used it for the first time and it will never look this shiny or clean again, I’m sure. Verdict: it rocks. Homemade hummus here I come.

reading:
Subversive Seamster
I love what they are doing with pin tucks in this book. Like the first book, there are great instructions on how to alter thrifted clothing or turn it into something else completely.

buying:
Apex mechanical pencil
This is my favorite mechanical pencil which I stumbled upon after buying a few brands in a frenzy of new mechanical pencil neediness. It’s also been given the stamp of a-ok-ness by Cool Tools. I found some of these on sale the other day so I have a stash of them in silver and black, they come in 0.7 lead as well.

reading:
Postsingular
Scott and I have been recommending books to each other and he keeps asking if I’ve finished this yet so we can talk about it. I’m only a few chapters in but the earth has nearly ended once so I suspect there will be a lot to discuss.

buying:
a dress for a party
Besides fighting the post-holiday let down, a good thing about a fancy party after the holidays is shopping for a dress during all the sales. This dress is very flattering and was 70% off, yay!

Kitchen Aid food processor: experiencing any problems with leakage between the top and the bowl? I noticed some comments about this on Amazon.com’s reviews. I’d appreciate your take on it before I drop the $$.

    Thanks!

LJ – Nothing yesterday after chopping up a lot of watery celery. I’ll try to make soup and report back.

Do you have a favorite hummus recipe? I’ve been anxious to make some for quite a while now but can’t settle on one of the zillions of recipes on the internet.

I don’t have a favorite recipe, I was going to start with the DIY Hummus from The Kitchen.

I really need to make some hummus. I have the 7 cup version of that food processor and love it. Especially for making hummus which I have meant to do for a week now! I love the recipe from America’s Test Kitchen. I want to try their lower fat version to see how it compares. It has just 2tbls of tahini and less olive oil.

The hummus recipe from Everyday Food is very easy and really good.

Mamasoo – Don’t laugh, it’s from JC Penny. They had a lot of terrible dresses, and a few that were flattering and well made for the price. The trade off is that I had to look through some overstuffed racks, but I’m very pleased with the one I found.

Hey Megan- I hear you! I just spent the weekend with my daughter going through the clearance section of Kohl’s! We both walked away sweaty, but happy!

I guess JC Penney’s is next!

    Thx

I have that very same food processor and I LOVE IT! It’s changed my life. Yay for pink.

Megan, that’s funny, I just bought a dress from J.C. Penny and I start out conversations the same way, “Well, you’re going to laugh, but it’s from Penny’s”
