I bought a pair of Privos during the last January sales and just retired them. I liked them a lot and wore them more than every other day, but somehow, I think they ought to have lasted longer than 10 months. I've had other shoes that I've similarly abused as the favourite shoe that I've worn 3 years straight.

I always enjoy Bernard & the Genie at Christmas time. We also watch While You Were Sleeping, although I don't suppose I should publicly admit that.

You can often find those Privos on discount at DSW (though I don't know if you've got DSWs on the left coast). And Jen, Privos are made by Clarks, and although Clarks were considered a well-crafted shoe at one time, I think they got bought out a few years ago and they are not what they once were. This is according to a few podiatrists I know. I love how the Privos look but have thus far avoided them, knowing that they might very well fall apart before I am done with them.

Just another comment on the Privos: I've had a pair of the Sofritos for a while and liked them so much I got another pair...and then three more kinds of Privo shoes (another Sofriti and Comice and Vino, I think) for a recent lengthy trip abroad. They were great for traveling. I got mine at Piperlime.com, which has free shipping and free returns, so you're not out any money if you decide you don't like them.

I don't understand the use of that purse thing at all. Seems annoying to have your purse hanging there.

I was just going to post that I am also thinking about buying a pair of the privos after I saw a flickr pal show hers off.
The reviews on zappos look great. I was thinking the tecquini, but now, I'm rethinking my choice the others are really cute!

I like the look of the Privo shoes, but the little bumps on the footbed irritate the bottom of my feet.

I too own a pair of the Sofritos, which I for a steal ($39!) during a Zappos sale in the fall. And I like the little bumps - It's like getting a mini foot massage with every step. I've only had them for a couple months so can't speak to their longevity.

Brownberry bread makes the best toast--and to think, I didn't even know it was at risk!

I HAVE those privo shoes, I've had them for about a year and a half. I love them--I've worn them through a month in europe (totally comfortable), spilled chocolate sauce on them (they cleaned up fine), and they still look very new. I have the black ones.

oh, another comment on the soffritos: although they are reasonably breathable, the are waterproof for pretty deep puddles. I'm sure some of the puddles I stepped in while wearing them were more than an inch deep and no water got in...
that was until they started to wear out. aside from the linings looking like a shredded mess, there was an inch long split through most of the layers just above the sole material. they just generally lost their shape as well.
