I don't think I've had donuts from anywhere else on Cakespy's list, but I have had them numerous times from the Daily Dozen Donut Co. at Pike place. In my opinion, fresh mini donuts rolled in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar are the absolute best. Next time I'm back home, I'll have to drop into one of the other places on the list.

Megan, you;re cordially invited to an online sandwich party. I hope you'll find time to play along; I'm eager to see your twist on the (very basic) idea!

Sorry to post this publically, though of course your readers are welcome, too --- the more, the merrier! I tried your posted gmail address, but it was bounced back to me.

Mmm- chestnuts! I helped peel many kilos of chestnuts for a big Thanksgiving feast, and I learned a chestnut trick from one of the chefs: if you leave chestnuts out in the open air for several days, they lose a little moisture content. This makes them easier to peel and more flavorful.

Aww, how sweet! (no pun intended. OK, pun intended). But who is glad to have found who? Cakespy adores Not Martha!

I love the groaty pudding! Maybe we need to move more toward that than the traditional figgy pudding, although perhaps it doesn't quite roll off the tongue quite as nicely...

I just recently bought some Fever Tree tonic water for my guy, whose favorite drink is the gin and tonic. The difference between that and his usual Hy-vee tonic was astounding. He's now a convert, and we're on a mission to find it somewhere so that we don't have to keep paying shipping fees to get it.

Thanks for the shout-out! Please let me know how your groaty pudding experiment goes... I keep thinking I need to try it again (and I have since gotten the real deal groats) but I haven't quite recovered from the trauma. Anyway, right now I'm obsessing on British style mice pies (so little and cute and tasty!)
