A friend of mine is involved with a film, Stories of Silence, that is going to shown tonight at 10 p.m. on KCTS here in Seattle. From the release: “Stories of Silence emerged from Seattle producer Ethan Delavan’s own journey through boyhood sexual abuse to survival and happiness as a husband, father, teacher and filmmaker. In the film, Delavan chronicles the stages he and many others have gone through from victim, to survivor, to voice in their lifetimes.”
Something I found interesting – the film almost wasn’t shown because there was some insurance problem around this film at the last moment. Did you know films need to be insured? I’m sure it was a huge blow to make a film about such a sensitive and personal nature and nearly be blocked by this last step. Congratulations to all involved in the film, I’m glad it’s successfully made it to air.

Along with physical production insurance, productions have to carry what’s called “E&O insurance” — errors and omissions. Especially important, I imagine, for a film of this nature.
