I think they hold a special place in most people’s hearts because of their connection to childhood. This cake mold allows you to make a full cake that looks, duh, like a giganto cupcake.
I just bought this pan at a local wholesale outlet for $5.50 I was so excited to try it. I'm in the process of baking it right now. In the bottom part of the pan i put a whole box of cake mix and in the top a half a box .. It raised up over the pan but none spilled out or anything>> Bake the bottom part for 15 min then added mix to the top section... Just got done baking and it released perfectly. I used crisco shortening and flour before i poured in my batter... SO Far I love this cake .. and plus i got a heck of a deal on it... I'll be posting pics on my myspace page if anyone wants to have a look. I have just got into cake decorating and i'm having fun teaching myslef ... Just made a Dora caracter cake the other day...

I bought this tin and I made the recommended recipe that comes with it: chocolate pound cake. My husband liked it, but I thought it tasted like a chocolate chip cookie cake. Not exactly what my five year old would like for her birthday. I did some reading and found that people recommended using a box mix. 1 and 1/2 boxes. I did this, and I had a huge mess. The cake overflowed all over the oven even though I filled it the same as I did the pound cake. As I type I am trying a dark chocolate bundt cake recipe in it. I peeked in the oven and it is once again too big, but as of yet it has not overflowed it the oven. Any suggestions as far as cake type and how much to fill the tin?

I'm in canada and i bought mine from customchocolateshop.com. If your looking for one in the UK just google it... Wilton Giant cupcake cake pan. There is also a company (not sure which one) who makes this shaped pan in silacone. in mine I used 2 boxes of cake mix...I put 3 cups of batter in the top half....3.5 cups of batter in the bottom half. I baked the bottom half for 10-15 minutes at 350 F...then added the batter to the top half...then after another 30 minutes...I just kept checking it...

Hi Lori,

Unfortunately I still don't own the pan so I'm not sure how to recommend baking in it. Anybody have experience using a mix?

I bought the giant cupcake pan. I was wondering if I were to use a box cake mix and can frosting. How should I bake it? I will need step by step instructions on how to use this pan. Thank You, Lori

Christine asked about icing not sticking. I also use Wilton's buttercream icing recipe, but add 2 Tbs milk to thin it and spread more easily. Also, wait until the cake is cool before applying icing. Hope that helps.

This mold was perfect. I have a child that will not eat chocolate. I made the recipe w/o the chocolate, poured half into the top; added half that recommended chocolate and poured that into the bottom. It was amazing and the cake looked great. And it feed A LOT of people.

Hi, I tried to make this giant cupcake but my icing wouldn't stick to the cake. I used the wilton buttercream icing mix, should I use something different? If so, what is the recipe? Thanks

I just bought this to make something for my youngest son's 1st birthday. I found it at Michaels and had a 50% off coupon. At $15 I can not complain and expect to have fun practicing with a cake or two over the next week or so.
