  2. I love the sticky toffee pudding. And I would never have tried it if I had not watched the food network special on the flavor creation contest for haagen-dazs. And the Harry Potter book is great. Finished it last night after a weekend jam-packed with reading!

  6. I like market optical. Expensive, but easy to get them to help you adjust on few months basis.

    Good frames, mine are three years old and still pretty hip.

  7. i got face-a-face frames (karma 5 style) at market optical in bellevue square and LOVE them. they were $$$$, but i think worth it if you wear exclusively glasses all the time. they were very good about describing how different styles complement the face and picking out the right kind for me, so you could even go there for some tips and then go some place cheaper to buy the actual frames.

  9. IMNSHO, Modo and ProDesign Denmark make the best frames out there - nice styling, moderate price and no logos. My money saving tip: try them on in person and get the model number, then look it up on eBay. Chances are you'll be able to find the same style for about $40, rather than the usual $150 and up.   10. I use Frames Direct, I got my Kate Spade frames with lenses for just over 200$ - maybe slightly pricey, but I love love LOVE them! (Tortoise shell on the outside of the frame, and turquoise on the inside, super fun, huh? LOL)

  11. I just went through the glasses search...EyeMasters (if there's one near you) has a sale where every frame in the store is $59. Even the $219 Armanis! (Guess what I got??) Of course, that still leaves all the lens charges, which made the whole thing come out to a whopping $300, but that's with my Astigmatism, and their highest quality lenses.

    Good luck with the search...it's tough!

  13. I watched the Haagan Daaz show on food network too!

    Sticky Toffee pudding was a disappointment for me (especially since I was rooting for cannolli). I can find it most places.

    I did, however, really LOVE the Toasted Coconut Sesame Brittle which is in a special container marked "special researve" on it. not available everywhere.

    I really want to try the other special reserve flavors too!

    By the way... Baily's Irish Cream flavor is REALLY good!

  14. You're gonna think I'm crazy, but... Sears Optical has great frames. My husband and I go there when glasses are half-off or buy-one-get-one, and I always find some modern frames that I like. I also have a strong prescription (like, crazy strong), and their ultra-thin lenses are some of the only ones that I've found that are actually thin. Now I have a pair of transitions. Check it out before you drop a fortune...

  16. I have gotten frames twice at Hour Eyes on Broadway and they are super nice people and very good prices. Seems like a strange location (between a copy shop and a peroshiky shop) but I have had great luck with nice frames and you even usually get a pair for free (granted the free pair aren't name brand, but hey, if I need to change it up for a day, it works great!).

  18. Thanks for all the advice on where to look for frames. My trouble isn't so much finding something I like as it is that all the frames these days are very chunky, and the earpieces bother me. My current pair have very thin ear pieces which fit in the space between my ear and my head, they're perfect. But anything too thick and I'm all aware of it, and it gives me a tension headache.

    So really, I'm being fussy about it.

  19. I'm going through the eyeglass search as well. Have only just started - most of the lens shapes seemed fairly narrow, which doesn't look good on me. The designer ones (dior, versace, etc) had the large earpieces, often with their logo. Like I want to be a walking billboard to advertise for them after paying the hefty price! The ones I currently wear may not be au currant lens-shape wise, but I think they look alright, plus they have a magnet on each side to attach the shades.   20. For thin earpieces, *definitely* check out Modo frames! I have the same problem so finding something thin has always been an issue.

    My current frame of choice is the Modo 223; next up will be the 513 and the 518 - the latter of which has a slightly thicker earpiece, but I love them so much I'm willing to give it a try.

  21. Try a pinch of Maldon's Sea Salt (green and white box- to die for! pyramid-shaped salt crystals from the UK. You can get it in Seattle...I know Williams Sonoma carries it now too) on the Sticky toffee pudding ice cream. A. Ma. Zing!

  22. I am obsessed with the Cooling Body Mist sunscreen. Last year I bought at least five of them because I kept seeing them on sale, and they're expensive full price. My husband spent a lot of time looking at me askance and asking why I kept buying sunscreen!

  25. I just got the coolest new frames from Mykita today (mykita.com). They are pricey but great because my eyes afre close together and I almost need child-sized frames, but I found a pair of these that work! They are handmade in germany and have no screws.

  26. I saw that someone mentioned ProDesign. I got a pair at Envision Optometry (across street from Bellevue Square). I love my glasses. I almost went to Market Optical, but everytime I walk in there I feel all the $$$$ drain from my account. ProDesigns are modern and very affordable ($200 range).

  28. I got my frames at Market Optical in Bellevue Square. I LOVE them. The person who helped me picked perfect frames to flatter my face. All of their frames are gorgeous and unusual. My frames were around $200.

  30. Got some of that sunblock just before I went to Key West. I got no sunburn! I was able to apply it myself and it did cool me down for a second or two.

    But don't breathe it in. Nope. Bad idea. Thanks, Megan. Because of your timely advice I was able to be on vacation and not come home crispy or hurting.
