my new shoe rack

I love the j-me shoe rack. I love that it floats off the floor, I love that it doesn't take up much space when no shoes are present, I love that it was the perfect shoe solution to my very cramped back entryway. So, I nearly cried when I found out it was about 5 inches too long to fit into said very cramped back entryway.

I set out to wander around a very large hardware store and find something that I could use in the same fashion. I had grand ideas about repurposing ductwork pipes or gutters or something meant for plumbing. I predictably didn't find anything that would work. So I went with Plan B: wood. We basically built shelves, narrower ones above wider ones, to work like this:

Go see all about how we made it, this has also been listed on the to make page.

  2. don't those types of racks mess up the toe of the shoe by denting it in? i had to throw away my boots because the dent in the toe made them unwearable :(

  3. Janet - I can see that happening if you store shoes in this type of rack. This one is for those shoes we throw on and off at the door on a daily basis, I wouldn't keep good shoes here.

  12. Zay - Thank you.

Liz - The shoes are from Ecco, and they were called Solo Tie. I got them a few years ago, but they only seem to have pink left.

  15. Juliann - Thanks, I was really just copying an idea though!

  16. Megan, it doesn't matter that you were copying an idea - something didn't work for you, and you figured out another solution. It seems that you are able to do that a lot, and that is what makes you brilliant!
