My Mother use to make these for my parties in the 1960's! It's a cute &
easy idea to make your home festive.

I completely recommend getting the instructions off MS' website for the paper pom-poms (she also has a handful of other tissue-paper flowers as well) as $19 for 6 tissue paper flowers equals gigantic rip-off. I make the pom-poms and other paper flowers where I work and the pom-poms always receive the most attention, moreso than the more time-consuming paper flowers!

More potential inspiration?

I made a bunch of these giant pompoms in different shades of pink for my little girl's birthday - they looked SO cute!
I've also done these in a smaller size for a friend's bridal shower. She loves turquoise so we made little turquoise pompoms to adorn the wine glasses and bigger ones on floral wire to fill vases down the center of the table. It looked FAB and was SUPER CHEAP!

Just an FYI: My mom and I trekked to Michael's to check out the MS Crafts, hoping to use one of our ubiquitous 40% off coupons on a kit that struck our fancy. When we got to the register, however, we learned that the coupons cannot be used on MS Crafts. Bummer, because they're pricy.
