I just finished my first sewing class Thursday night! I made a vest, and I'm quite proud of it. I signed up to make a "zippy bag" at the end of May. And now I think I really need this book - as long as I can remember how to thread my machine and make a bobbin, too!

I have a friend who is an avid sewer. I'd like to put together a 'sewing' gift including a mag subscription for her. Do you have a suggestion for the best magazine (hip, easy, creative)?

This book is everywhere. Just saw it at the library. You are all making me want to sew. Question, though: what's a good basic machine for a beginner?

The best fabric store I have found in the PNW is called Bolt in Portland, OR. A small store but a fantastic stash of fabrics. Esthers Fabrics in Winslow on Bainbridge Island is also worth a visit. It's an easy walk from the ferry, just turn left on the main drag of Winslow.

Do you have a favorite fabric shop(s) in Seattle? I have a list of sewing projects that I want to do this summer and will definitely be picking up this book. I'm just a bit leary with ordering fabric online.

I have been seeing that book everywhere. It's getting rave reviews. It's inspiring me to try to tackle some new sewing projects.
