Frock Shop
I was in my old neighborhood getting a haircut yesterday and I stopped in the Frock Shop, which is a few blocks from where I used to live but didn't open until after we'd moved out.
I'm not normally a boutique girl, usually I find the staff as intimidating as the prices on the clothes that I likely won't fit into. But the Frock Shop isn't like that at all, I loved the clothes, which came in my size and nothing I tried on was over $70. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, and the shop was packed full of lovely things that make me long for more disposable income. In addition to clothes there are handbags, jewelry, soaps, cards, scarves and shoes. I'll definitley be back.
The Frock Shop is located on the corner of Phinney Ave. N. and 65th St. If you head out there and it's breakfast time, go to Mae's for coffee and nice scrambles. If it's lunchtime, head to Red Mill for burgers, and if it's time to get a haircut head a few doors down to Deluxe Hair, if Lisa is in you can pet the happy dogs she brings to work with her. El Chupacabra (cheap) and the Stumbling Goat Bistro (expensive but oh so worth it) are nearby as well.
The owner of the Frock Shop keeps a blog at I Heart Fabric, and she has a site for her vintage fabric handbag business, Suzy Fairchild which is also sold in the shop. Look, a Frock Shop dress was recently worn by Cassie Mae on the Martha Stewart show, how cool.
Thanks for the tip! I have to admit I assumed this was like any other boutique from the moment I saw it was on its way--meaning out of my price range and with only size 2 dresses. I'll have to stop in!
I also recommend the weird but hearty Pete's Egg Nest for breakfast in the 'hood.

Yay! I too recently fell in love with the Frock Shop, and it's so great that there are dresses that fit us average (read 10-12) women! It's one of my favorite neighborhoods. Also, if you're in the mood for another great hair style, Cowboys and Angels are right next door to Yanni- really good greek food. Look at Phinney getting it's props!

Oh there's nothing like a frock! I wish there was a frock shop here in Marrakech. But no such luck. ~Sigh.

I wish I had known about this neighborhood the last time I went to Seattle for Trade shows. I've taken notes, however and next time I'll have to visit Phinney Avenue.

If you love fabric check out our local fabric store J & O Fabric. They have incredible vintage style designs. I love fabric designs from the 50s and 60s and they have tons. I love your shop. If I am ever in your neck of the woods I will stop by.
