Not Martha

bad beginnings, good endings

Back when I wrote about all the things I did wrong with the Halloween crawly cakes, Cinnamon wrote to say how refreshing she found it to see mistakes talked about on the web where it’s so easy to only show the good bits. She wrote about* all the mistakes she has made while making bags for her business Poise. She even links to pictures on Flickr with notes. I have a pile of half done pieces, both sewing a knitting, that I cannot bring myself to toss because I learn something every time I sort through them. Also, check out Cinnamon’s pictures from her trip to Mood, the fabric store featured so prominently on Project Runway.

I didn’t keep pictures but I can tell you about the two failed prototypes of Christmas presents I made this year. I was thinking ahead and used fabric that was inexpensive so I didn’t need to weep when things didn’t turn out. I was anticipating my initial failure this time around and it made the final item that much easier to make.

Recently Laura at Busywork wrote about some cupcakes that didn’t turn out as expected so she made cupcake tiramisu, yum, and included a recipe and a few extra ideas.

*It’s taken me far too long to link to this, my apologies.
