I also make baby eyeballs that are kind of like gelatine using small round moulds. These would make great giant eyeballs!

I found them at the Muji department at Ahlens in Stockholm. I suspect they are all over Europe. My only regret is that only bought two. Fortunately, my mother heard my regret and got me two more from the Muji website.

I haven't had luck using boiled water to make the ice clear. Maybe I need to boil it even longer than I have been?

One of the best things about the Muji molds is how large they are. If you drink whiskey, you will have it cold but not diluted as these things take quite awhile to melt, even when you pour alcohol over them.

We have a Daiso in Richmond - very near Vancouver, BC. Love, love love it. I actually bought the ice cube maker that looks like icebergs and have yet to try it out. I guess I should now. You've inspired me.

Elizabeth - I'm not sure if it's a Daiso only brand. I have pictures of the packaging here - front and back, hopefully that will help.

Oh this is fabulous! Are they available in the UK anywhere or are they Daiso own-brand? Perhaps the Muji ones will be my best bet, but I love the elegance of the Daiso set. I think I feel a research mission coming on...

Daisio Rocks!

If you use cooled off, boiled water, you will get really clear ice cubes/balls. I found this out accidentally when I used up what was left in a tea kettle rather than dumping the water.

I have a couple of the Muji ice-ball molds (bought in Japan), and I think they're the large ones. The ice balls are about 3 inches in diameter, and they pretty much fill up a 12-oz tumbler. They're perfect for whisky on the rocks.
