Tip for Seattle Tourists Like Me - when in Pike Place Market seek out the Daily Dozen Doughnut Company. They are a little stand which makes mini doughnuts which are served warm and delicious. Bonus if you get there while the guy who snaps the bags open with an impressively loud bang is working. Here is an article in The Stranger about it. If the eating of doughnuts doesn't interest you stop by to take a look at the table-top sized doughnut factory in motion, it's mesmerizing, like a trip to an itty bitty Krispy Kreme.

I've been drooling over cider syrup recipes: And pumpkin butter, mmm. Mostly unrelated - does anyone know if I can find Lady Apples at the Pike Place Market or anywhere else around Seattle? I didn't spot any at Pike Place last time I was there.

ljc posted about the folding chopstick wrappers into chopstick rests right about the same time I learned how to fold my first (very simple) chopstick rest. I did some research for basic instructions and couldn't find any (ok, I didn't try very hard), but I did find this suggestion at half bakery for a wrapper which has instructions on how to fold the rest printed right on it. I give it a thumbs up.

Extreme Pumpkins is a very cool, and very informative site on how to carve pumpkins your mother may not approve of. Take a look at the photo gallery, you may remember the puking pumpkin from times past, yeah, that's this guy. via the shrine worthy Cockeyed.

While I was doing some cleaning this weekend I caught an episode of The Splendid Table. I used to listen to the show in Ohio, but the stations in California didn't carry it. I had forgotten how much housework I can get done while listening to the show. More importantly I had forgotten how inspiring the show is, this episode has me wondering if I can make cider syrup using the pots I have. And now there is a weekly email newsletter called Weeknight Kitchen, I can hardly wait.

In case you havn't checked in a while, things are rolling again over at Sew Wrong. I have a new project planned, just as soon as I can find many yards of wide wale olive corduroy, a task which is proving harder than one might expect.

Quidnunc sent a question in to Martha Stewart Living magazine and it made it in! Uh-oh, turns out I've been doing it wrong.
