Suzie Q talking about cream of wheat reminded me – a while back I talked about how the place I used to work had the most yummy vat of cream of wheat in the morning. It was good plain with a few dried cranberries thrown on top. I had trouble recreating the same goodness at home – the markets in that area only carried instant, 1 minute, and 2 1/2 minute. When we moved down here I found one place which carries the 10 minute kind, and that is almost as good. I find that if I stir it a lot and let it cook until pretty thick it is comparable. A few months ago I was hit with some insomnia and I found that making a bowl of cream of wheat and reading Lemony Snicket books did the trick.
