Not Martha

help! Does anyone happen to have the recipe for the Sand Dollar Cookies from Martha Stewart last summer? They were dusted with cinnamon and had almond slices as decorations if I remember correctly. Do you have it? Thanks in advance! You can also email me if you prefer.

Marthastewart.com got rid of the pages from shows past a month, such a shame.

Look at what gorgeousness Clara’s Window is showing us how to do – knitting beaded jewelry! I have never heard of knitting jewelry, but now I must give it a try.

I had pictures of my black scarf in progress, but I can’t find them so I’ll just tell you about it. So far it seems that the Zucca yarn is going to stay fuzzy wuzzy instead of growing ratty looking the way the Geisha yarn did. But we shall see how it holds up in the wash.

I had seen these Chalkcloth placemats before – fabric you can write with chalk on, pretty nifty. But I’m more excited to find that you can buy it by the yard! It doesn’t look like erases all that well though. Carol Duvall has a little blurb about it here.

Did everyone catch the Martha Stewart April Fools show yesterday? It was funnier than I was expecting. Thanks to Ellen for tipping me off!

I swore off ever sewing again after college. I held out for a few years, but finally broke down and purchased a sewing machine (an older Singer) a while back. Now I want to make something using interfacing and come to find everyone calls it stabilizer these days. When did that happen?

And while I’m at it, are the newest Singers any good? What type of sewing machine is recommended these days?

I got the new issue of Bust yesterday and was pleased to find an ad by our own dangerous chunky! There was also an article on knitting with some casting-on and casting-off instructions and a pattern for some legwarmers. I havn’t read it just yet but it looks promising.

I spotted two instances of knitting last night on the Simpsons! Marge was knitting, but it appeared she was actually holding two crochet hooks. Either the cartoonist is confused or I am. And there was a very brief shot of a woman knitting in Brazil. I have started a scarf in black Zucca while I am waiting for my additional pink and orange Geisha to arrive. I’m using a single strand of Zucca on #8 needles and it seems great so far, we shall see if the scarf stretches itself thin. I also attempted to make a slit in this one, but used the wrong strand of yarn while watching the burning bush on the Ten Commandments, so it’s more of a small thin hole. Oh well.
