After numerous disasterous baking incidents I bought an oven thermometer and discovered my oven runs about 75º hot! Now I can stop beating myself up over not being able to cook a decent pie.

This month’s real simple magazine is terrific, though you can get the best stuff online. New uses for old things lists the baking soda scrub I’ve been using for a while (yay me) and inflating plastic zipper bags to use as padding for shipping, and many other good ideas. Recipes for souffles make it sound easy, I might actually attempt one! and I love all the holiday brunch recipes.

I almost forgot to tell you! I stood right next to a guy on the train today who was wearing an honest, handmade Dr. Who scarf! He was an older man, which made it so much better. It was really wide, and must have been at least 14′ long. I wished I had had my camera with me.

Know what I want? I want a solid perfume (I tend to spill things inside of bags) which smells like soap, or citrusy is good too. I took note of a mention in Lucky magazine (I know, I’m ashamed I was reading it) about Thierry Mugler’s Cologne. They reviewed it saying it smells like soapy clean and lasts all day. I dabbed some on at Macy’s and just smelled manly for the rest of the day, ugh.
I know there are soap scent fragrance oils. I actually have some fragrance oils waiting for me to test out. I know I keep raving anti-fo messages but these are better than the ones I’ve used in the past. Do you know of anything like a solid simply one note soapy or citrusy scent? Or should I make plans to make my own?

anyone know where I can buy snowflake chunky online by the ball in with a wide selection of colors? I have found it at yarn forward but they don’t have the colors I’m interested in, and other places only sell it by the bag! do you know?

squibnocket has been up to some yarn finding lately. she found that it is less expensive to have rowan’s all season cotton shipped to her from england than to buy it in canada. and she (as am i) is experiencing chunky colorful wool yarn envy.

and this is a great suggestion – use these bride and groom pez dispensers as wedding cake toppers, I’m tempted to buy a set and keep them around, just in case
