So excited! My first issue of ReadyMade has arrived! I was beginning to give up hope. It is very cool, and much less indie than I was expecting (ex: full page ads for Camper shoes and Target, story by Neal Pollack), however I’m glad to see it doesn’t look like the magazine will be folding right away. They offer a free trial issue so go on.

I’m looking for a good bead store in San Francisco, I tried to make it to The Magical Trinket, found it had gone missing, and have since heard it moved it’s location to the back of a store across the street (?). Is it still there? The Bead Store on Castro wasn’t quite was I was looking for. So, has anyone in SF been to General Bead? Is it worth the type of trip where I bring my boyfriend along because I’m afraid of that area? Or should I give up and drive up to Beads of Marin? Got any advice?

I’m taking inspiration for my new creation from this kick ass necklace, and this lovely chocker and I’m not sure if I could pull it off, but I like this one too.

Barbara left a note on my frosting windows project page to tell me about this super duper special Krylon window frosting spray – which can be cleaned with glass cleaner and scrapes off. This is exactly what I was hoping to find when I set out looking for window frosting options. Note the copy: “Can also be used with stencils to create an etched-glass finish.”

There were a lot of great bags flying around last week, my favorite is this Queen Bee creation at Buy Olympia – the Poppy Tote. So pretty. Thanks to Erin for pointing to it!

Mmmmmmmmm, Digs Magazine has up a story on cooking with ginger. I grew up in the midwest and didn’t get to know the joys of ginger until just this past year when I discovered I was surrounded by Thai restaurants here in California. I (seriously) thought ginger was just a powdered spice for gingerbread. Check out the recipes Digs Magazine supplies us with: super easy ginger tea, ginger martini (!), and some wonderful gingerbread with candied ginger icing.

And, if you can find it, the new Jelly Belly flavor Sweet Ginger is lovely.

Every year my mom would make a double batch of homemade Chex Mix and put it in a really big tin, sooooo yummy and perfect for crunching out those holiday anxieties. I definetly plan on making some this year, perhaps the lowfat version.
