I want to get a stapler that staples the teensy little ones like you find attaching the label to the string on a tea bag. Does
anyone know if these are available? I'd also like my own souvenir penny machine but those are a bit more expensive.

In a moment of cheesiness I bought a
Crest Spin Brush at Target this weekend. Mostly because it was silly and under $5, partly because the green matches my bathroom (sort of). But I actually like it, I don't know if it's getting my teeth any cleaner, but I kinda feel like a slothful Jabba the Hut "Now, let my teeth be brushed - Bwah ha ha." Little did I know they have a bunch of neat-o ones for kids too - mermaid, rocket, racecar, walkie talkie, and cell phone.

More on that knitting thing - I pass the Levi's store on my way home today and spotted a big loose fuzzy scarf in the window. I, of course, went to investigate it - it's make of acrylic, mohair and wool, and looks like three or five thin yarns knitted together. The stitches resemble the swatch I made with my #50 needle the other day, each stitch is loose enough to fit two fingers through. I can't find an example of it online anywhere though.

I just heard the most delightful cookie recipe on NPR this afternoon -
pumpkin rocks with cream-cheese frosting from The All-American Cookie Book by Nancy Baggett. The story was about comfort foods, so check out the
other recipes too - Chicken in a Pot, Chocolate Pudding, and Mac and Cheese, yum.

Kitty 62 has a pattern for a devil hat on her site which is close to the one I've been chattering about, it's in frames so go
here and click on Knitting Patterns in the left nav to find it. Thank you!

someone on Glitter (GetCrafty's message boards) is looking for a
knitted kitty cap - a saw a devil hat at Halloween that sounds similar. Anyone know of patterns for kitty or devil hats? The one I'm thinking of was very much like
this one but adult sized, sat flat on the top of the head, and was knitted in a stockinette most of the way around.

I'm usually anti-big-brand but
this scarf is huge and chunky and exactly the type of thing I want to make (in a non-wool version) once I finally get good at this knitting thing. The pictures don't do the scale of stitches justice. And
this hat has very cute little nubs when you put it on.
One of my favorite scarves was (I think) knitted by my grandmother on my mom's side. It's very very long - about eight feet - and has huge stitches in it. My #50 needles just arrived and the test area I did show that this is probably how she made this scarf, I'm so excited I can make one I can actually wear. Another thing I want to try to make a pattern for is a knitted cap/kerchief thing which is shaped very like the cap Juliet wears in the Zeffirelli Romeo and Juliet while she is waiting in the garden for the nanny to return... I'm trying to find a picture, trust me, it's very cute.
